    Very good Tony! Read the quote I left in conjunction with yours here...and tell me where it says "English" (except in your comment). You have just failed the Comprehension Test!

    In fact the article makes a point of Pearson's failure to make this distinction.

    In the 50s through to the 90s, Scottish and Welsh education was in advance of the English system. From the 90s the first two have fallen back considerably; there is not enough information to judge how far this affects the overall picture of the UK which Pearson is portraying. Mention is made also of University education but no detailed conclusions are drawn in the article.
