Business sellers providing a contact phone number

My experience is that you cannot PM someone with whom you have not had a transaction.
I did try to contact a seller by PM but was not allowed. I was told to use "Ask a Question".

You can PM a poster but I do not believe you can PM a seller other than through Ask a Question.

You can pm a seller through the forum.Just copy their username & paste it into the recipient box in the message.
Of course,this only works if the seller has the appropriate buttons highlighted in their settings.

Do the Distance Selling Regulations apply to auction sites, if so you should display a phone number, also I think it should be part of your customer services, on the other auction site, I have had quite a few customers ring to ask a question about one of my products before they purchased. I think it's very short sighted

The reason I'd rather not have my number on display is because I am a woman living on my own with two children. I would welcome phone calls from customers, but I am worried about potential abuse by people who got to know that I am on my own. That's probably just me being paranoid, I admit. If eBid told us that by law we need to have a phone number displayed, I would go with it. I do have my mobile number on my business cards that I hand out to interested customers at fairs, but I just don't like the idea of millions of internet users having access to it.

I work from home and have the same concerns about safety. I have many customers collect in person and I'll have one of my children hanging around pretending to make a cuppa tea just in case but not yet had any problems. I have no problem with any one not want there phone number on display but I would like to able to and it has a proven track record in my line of work.

All I'd like is the option to do so

Although it wasn't me that reported you,if I'd seen it I would have done.eBid is a level playing field as far as sellers are concerned.The rules apply to us all,why should you be any different?Just because you don't agree with a rule doesn't mean you can ignore it.




I used to do that,but on more than one occassion I was told to mind my own f...ing business.I now just report anyone breaking the rules,and will continue to do so.

Is showing a phone number an option after the sale? you know after 250+ buys here in the past year I never noticed.
