    Question Punctuation in Store Titles

Is there any chance that punctuation could be allowed in store titles?

I appreciate that they are used to form URLs, but the punctuation could be stripped out to do that.

As it stands at the moment, any punctuation is stripped out (without any warning) when a store is created.

The most common problem is the stripping of possessive apostrophes. For example, if I were to create a store with a title of:

    Astral's Penny Bazaar

    This becomes:

    Astrals Penny Bazaar

Not only does this twang my nerve endings every time I see it happen on a store name, it makes the store owner look as though they don't know how to punctuate words.

This is not the only punctuation character that makes titles look odd when stripped out by the eBid system; periods and hyphens are two others that regularly show up.

If you really can't see a way to allow (maybe just a selected few) punctuation characters in store titles, could you at least warn the user when they are creating their store(s) that such characters are not allowed and will be stripped from the title when the store is created? This would, at least, give them the chance to form store titles that turn out as they expect.

    Yes! I totally agree, Astral

I think that my greatest beef with eBid's software is that it does things without warning me.

    Also called a full stop.

    Oxford English Dictionary:

    full stop n.

The end of a sentence; the single point or dot used to mark this; a period, full point.

    BUMP!

This stripping of punctuation (particularly the possessive apostrophe) from store names is still bugging the bejeezers out of me.

I've just recreated my store and yes my punctuation has gone
I have actually stopped using punctuation on forums blogs etc because i'm constantly told not to use it and i seem to be doing it more and more.Text messages for instance i don't use any at all!

I hear you, my jewelry store was originally named Sue's Jools but reads Sues Jools. I'm getting used to it though.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

All Titles I have come across in different sites have the same problem.

Get used to just adding a -s-. it is read as his or hers.
Exclamation, single or double quotes or apostrophe use a plain dash either side of the word instead..

    Good luck
