Looking forward to comet ISON, it should be visible to the naked eye in about a month and is still on target for being a once in a lifetime comet.

Where have I been all my life? Coming from London and living in the crowded south of England, I've never seen the sky looking like that. Must go to New Zealand!

You don't need to go quite that far. there is a dark sky park in Exmoor. I am lucky as I live on the edge of the Pennines about 500 yards from the nearest street lights and with just a couple of farmhouses on the other side. Every time I get home after a night out in winter and the sky is clear I have a good look round the sky. the number of stars you see compared to in towns is amazing.

I remember as a child, street lighting was still mostly gas, and in towns you could see far more stars in the night sky then you can now.
