    Tell that to Tazbar.

    Oh, wait! You can't.

They spent a bundle on advertising and put themselves out of business in 2009 when it failed to work.

Therefore all companies should abandon marketing as a failed strategy - tell that to every successful company on the planet.

I don't know ebid's business strategy but I will say this - the purpose of advertising is stimulate business and ultimately make more money - no very successful company exists without it - marketing is an earner not a loser if done properly and realistically - advertising means more buyers, more sellers and more website hits which means more income from seller fees and more income from all those adverts that are plastered all over the site (which I suspect are quite a large part of ebid's income at present). "Oh but it's so expensive ..." sigh.
The income from the adverts being plastered all over the site is to help pay for the new Google fees to get our listings onto Google Shopping where a lot of our newbie buyers come from. If they are having to resort to that then I suspect there isn't a huge amount of spare cash floating around for TV ads !

Sorry, have said something that you interpret as a criticism of ebid ? I haven't.

The thought never crossed my mind, I wasn't interpreting anything. I was just pointing out why the site now has all the extra ads and what the money was being used for and if they were having to do that then they can't have much money to spare at the moment.

What a strange assumption to make.
