Television is a bit pricey I would think.
Would love to see tv ads myself, but it is not likely to happen in the near future.

Best prices on designer and branded goods in all five stores.
The closest we'll get to tv adverts is youtube uploads from members. It just needs someone to come up with something that'll go viral.I posted this a year ago.(No,it didn't go viral.)For those who haven't realised they're anagrams of ebid dot net.

is there something on the site that shows how many active seller accounts there is

TV ads will be a great way to drive traffic to eBid. It will also show sellers not yet here that eBid is serious competition for FeeBay and Amazon. Most sellers we need here will not come here because the sales are not here. Traffic to the site, traffic per listing is irrelevant if the sales are not there. TV advertising will bring shoppers, but they will only shop here if they can find what they want to buy and not everything is available on eBid because the sellers are not here selling it. Even I have limited what I sell on here because there just are not the buyers here for other items I sell and google shopping etc. does not always guarantee sales.
TV advertising can be expensive, especially during prime time hours on the main channels showing soaps, other prime time shows like dramas etc. whereas TV ads on other channels (history, Nat Geo, Quest, Discovery Channels) for the same "prime time" will be cheaper than like ITV, Sky One and other more popular channels with prime time shows. eBid should look at the cost of tv ads on the other channels rather than aim straight for the expensive channels like ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 as such channels will always be more expensive.
YouTube is a good way for eBid to advertise. They should set up their own channel on there like others have done. eBid could then use this as a way of comparing FVF's on items for sellers, comparing them against feebay and Amazon, like the new 6" Star Wars figures, fvf on them over on feebay is at least £1.90 + listing fee + plus paypal fee, so after all fees, the sellers have sold them at a loss on feebay whereas on eBid, 2% or 3% fvf depending on your seller status. eBid could do a lot of promotional videos on you tube detailing such things as well as promoting sellers, the items they sell etc.
I have no idea how to make videos myself for uploading to you tube. It's not something I know about. With windows movie maker I can make slide shows of images with music and that's about it lol. But then that's all you really need for promotional vids on you tube really. But then it's getting the views, getting them to go viral. You need something that's going to want to make people view it and share it, which I can think of one way but I'd get sued by feebay for derogatory comments haha.
