Thanks for all the info that you have sent, I have to say that some of the things mentioned by the Royal Mail were to be expected some were not however I feel that selling nail varnish is not worth the effort and like the Royal Mail I shall dispose of my stock but I shall give it to family and friends. I knew I could count on my ebid buddies for help and advice.

So - 4 bottles of nail varnish, as long as the form is filled out, is ok to mail.
So - it's not so much the nail varnish that's dangerous, but the lack of a form.............................................. ..
Ta-Ta for now!

Carole - as long as one of these labels is attached to your parcel

you can continue to sell nail polish.
I sold some nail polish in a recent YDC; the parcel got through OK with said label attched.
All this has come about because a lot of UK internal mail now goes by air.
Well, this is interesting, and I'm glad that this subject has come up.
I listed a 100ml bottle of spray perfume for YDC 114, then I got this email today about sending perfumes with Royal Mail.
(Is Big Brother watching???)
I took down my listing, but after studying the rules and regs, I think it will be OK to relist and post with RM so long as I follow the packaging details, and get the necessary label.
Hope the poker faced staff at my village post office will accept my package .... (presuming I sell it, of course!)
Geez- am I having a nightmare?
This stuff sounds crazy to me - I have purchased tons and tons of perfume both for myself and all my girls, and never had a problem with delivery. Ever.
Oh well ..... I guess I will nod and bow, and agree with the T&C's.
I think Anniemcc2 has a valid point - about internal mail going by air, so safety in sending liquids is of paramount importance to us all.
I agree with the last 2 entries flying and flammables are a bad combination but I can never agree with moving goalposts without first giving out information , when in a lighthearted manner I queried this at my local PO a laminated sheet was produced and waved at me as if I should know all about it. Well like me my crystal ball is a bit old and dusty. Thank you all for responding in such a lighthearted way, not one of you made me feel small for my lack of knowledge. Finally items along with spray bottles and phials of perfume were posted to me from a warehouse recently and reached me with no problems at all.

Royal Mail were going to completely ban the posting of these items up until very recently and then they changed their minds, probably due to the backlash and the realisation that they would lose shedloads of money. As long as you affix your ID8000, you are fine. It is to do with safe transportation of flammable items apparently after a previous fire on a DHL aircraft involving flammable stuff that wasn't packaged well next to a lithium battery that caught fire...so hence we now cannot post out of the UK at all, unfortunately. The labels SHOULD be available to affix at your local PO but ours don't have them so I have printed some off and photocopied them so I always have some handy. Don't give your stuff away...it only means you can only sell within the UK :-)
Flying and flammables are a problem? Which is a bigger problem a pint or less of nail polish or the 3 or 5 thousand gallons of jet fuel in the machines doing the flying? sounds like a ridiculous over reach to me. I wanted to add in the US we have similar restrictions regarding lithium batteries.
