    Default Good Luck Gareth Bale

Goodbye Gareth Bale, thanks for all the great football memories.

    £300,000 per week, six-year deal

Transfered for £85.3m (100m euros) From Spurs to Real.

Good luck mate, you deserve it.

Hope to see you in the Super Cup one year.

One has to believe in one's club.

Moneywise a great deal for him & his family, as for the football, he will have to settle in real quick and perform at the highest level every game or he will end up being discarded. Shame for Spurs as I thought this could have been their year to break the monopoly up the top of the premiership. Looks like it might have to be Liverpool's turn to have a go.

300,000 per week isn't a great deal - it's just stupid money! you can buy 3 GPs for a year for that.

I agree, most professional sportsmen earn far too much, but even so for him personally it is a good deal.

I'm not even convinced that it's good for the person with the money. Footballers have a great history of marriage break up, rape accusations and idiotic behaviour. Balotelli is the extreme case. Being paid too much seems to distort their personalities.

£85m is a lot of money,
but Real were buying a 3 year contract from Spurs.

Whilst I agree that £300,000 per week is silly money, GPS are also far too highly paid, in my opinion - no other public sector has had their hours cut (no evenings and weekends like they used to have to work) and their salary doubled, like GPs have. Just my opinion and it may just be in Wales (or the part of Wales I frequent) that it is easier to win on the lottery than to see your own GP on a day, or time, when you are actually ill. Of an evening or a weekend the 'Grim Reaper' is more likely to attend.

Gareth Bale's £85.3m transfer to Real Madrid is the 42nd time the world record has been broken. The first official world record was £100 when Scot Willie Groves moved from West Brom to Aston Villa in 1893.

I wouldn't call it 'stupid money', I would call it obscene.

We won't argue over an adjective, Mel. I'll accept your suggestion.
