Today's Forum post:
How hard would it be for eBid to send a direct email to ALL new users a standard welcome letter detailing all the wonderful selling/buying advice which has been given in the forums over the years? How to improve listingsHi,
I am after improving my listings because at the moment my sales on here are standing at 0 for this year and 2 for last year. I remember seeing a thread on here some time ago with tips to improve your listings, but I can't remember what thread heading it came under or exactly how long ago it was. I have checked the Help pages and gone through the FAQ's and searched the titles of the HTV's but cannot find it. If some kind soul could point me in the general direction I would be grateful.
I always see advice to seek advice in the forums but for newbies it may be a bit too much to ask them to look through and find advice they may so desperately need.
Why not just have a standard letter which goes out to anyone signing up? Advice is pretty much the same and appears to have been for many years. At least this way anybody signing up to eBid receives all helpful advice immediately.
I truly believe it wouldn't be a major task to put together. It would take a little time and energy but it would have to be better than forum users repeating the same info over and over again. And what about the folks who join and don't log into the forums? They are missing out on the ins and outs of eBid.
on every page of ebid theres a help button top right the first sentence reads
We have 4 methods for aiding our members... Frequently Asked Questions, How To Videos, Via the eBid Forums and after reading the FAQs and having posted a message in the forums without reply, you can contact us by email.
every news letter directs all users who recive the news letter to the forums for help if needed
if people did not want to repeat what they say time and time again as you put it they simply would not do it
people like to give advise they spend time on the forum and give advise on every forum i know thats the whole purpose of the forum "advise " yet you seem to think thats a bad idea here and would prefer people not too . your quoted post also contridicts its self in its main surgestion

what i find very odd about you is the fact you want forum users to stop giving there advice the same advice as you put it would be new to a new forum user who is seeking that advice with maybe a adjustment for there perticular needs the advice on the whole is given by people who sell well on ebid understand its in and outs in other words are experienced in selling on ebid yet you would wish them to stop, i see nothing wrong with the advice given there are no forum rules broken when this advice is given, i fail to see your point,! maybe some advice is a little to much like the truth, the experienced sellers who give advice tend to all agree and are vindicated by there selling record, so i see no point in your thread, at all, the pointers to advice on selling and buying on ebid are hardley elusive any one searching for advice cant but help fall over themselves with pointers to the forum. i also dont see a general consensus of regular advice givers agreeing with you. i dont see any one giving you a mandate for advise to be stopped on there behalf, certainly as a forum adviser from time to time i would not heed your surgestions at all,
as for having posts removed on this subject which happened the other day on a thread were members were giving advise but you interviened. the context of removed threads or posts are brought to the attention of a forum moderator which i think is just as important as members seeing the posts and thread opposing points of view should be read by those who make the disisions

I got an email from ebid two week sago.
It said I could join as a seller plus for a discounted price.
It said I could use pppay to get something
I have been a lifetime seller + for 3 years!
It also looked as though it was done in the 1990's
So it looks as though they are trying it, but need to do a LOT better.
