Not sure if this is your problem but might be worth checking out.

    Open Outlook Express.
Select Tools from the toolbar at the top of the screen.
    Select Accounts
Select the BT accoiunt and then select Properties.
    Select Advanced.

At the bottom of the Advanced page is a section called 'delivery'.

If none of the boxes in the delivery section are checked, once an e-mail is downloaded to your computer, it will be deleted from the BT e-mail server.

If any of the boxes in the delivery section are checked, once an e-mail is downloaded to your computer, it will stay on the BT e-mail server until you delete it manually and will be downloaded to your computer each time your computer searches for e-mails to download.

    Thanks .

Not my fault! I gave up smoking my pipe last November - haven't lit a thing since!

A dragon not smoking I can understand but a dragon with no puff or spark is unheard of.

This is button and bows thread so I'll leave it there - I don't want to be told off!

There's no need to reinstal Outlook Express. If you try to reinstal Outlook Express, you might lose all your e-mails. Instead, search on the Microsoft support site to find out how to go through the Outlook Express e-mail compacting process. As part of the compacting process, the Outlook Express master files are rewritten without the loss of any e-mails.

Thanks...the info is from Microsoft and is not a reinstall of the whole process. I shorthanded it here as i did not wish to hog the site. in any case backup will have been done. "Reinstal" consists of dealing with the .dll's some of which are known to become corrupted. (Bear in mind that the problem is that the emails are remaining serverside).I haven't used OE for ages for that very reason.
