    Default Buddy Links in Your Listings!

    I have long noticed that a majority of "buddy links" in sellers listings are still using the OLD, OUTDATED one:

    http://us.ebid.net/perl/normal.cgi?r...=register-main

    The "new style" of buddy links should look like this:

    http://us.ebid.net/buddy/123456

    Yeah...it's not that it is a big deal or anything...the world isn't going to come to an end. But little things like that is what drives me up a wall!

    Does it make a difference as to whether we he credited with the sign up or not?

    I don't think it matters much at all TBH - I have tried to get my buddy link in all my auctions.
    I get many purchases from a newbie who joins eBid and buys item within a minute or two - no buddy points though, so they obviously didn't sign up with my buddy point link, or it simply just ain't working!

    newbies seem to find what they want, click to bid before reading about buddy points links - and they are auto taken to register but we don't get the points.

    I directed a newbie here day before yesterday from another site - I sent him the link to the item - he was on the phone as I talked him through it.... but I wasn't fast enough to stop him from clicking to buy & never got the chance to explain it to him.

    No buddy point for me.

    sorry, edited to correct, day before yesterday

    So that's what happens, Cheaver! I've been puzzled by that situation for a while now.

    So have I. In fact it has happened more than once ~ it is galling.

    I have had a good month for buddy links this month with 4 so far. Somebody posted some HTML that puts your buddy link into a format that makes it look more like eBid rather than part of your listing. To insert it you need to change the editor to Plain HTML Box and paste this at the bottom of your listing:

    <!--Start buddy code for kreative--><br />
    <br />
    <div class="boxit-only t40 b10 clear auction-description"><b>Need to Register?</b></div>
    <div><b class="green">Haven't registered yet? </b><span style="font-size: small; font-family: Arial; color: rgb(51,51,51)">If you like this item and would like to buy or place a bid you need to take a few seconds and <a href="http://uk.ebid.net/buddy/389797">Join</a> eBid. <br />
    <br />
    Go to the <a href="http://uk.ebid.net/buddy/981690">Register</a> page to set up your free eBid account today!</span> <br />
    <br />
    <br />
    <br />
    &nbsp;</div>
    <!--End buddy code-->

    You can leave my buddy link in if you like, but I would put your name on line 1 and link on line 6.

    Apologies to whoever posted the code in the first place, if I could remember who it was I would have given you the credit for the work.

    Kreative - It was Jimbo ~ and yes I have done that too. As I explained, folks are clicking to bid/buy before even seeing that link. Mine is duplicated ~ both in the listings & as part of the eBid form...

    A lot of my Buyers have joined specifically to buy my item ~ have clicked to buy and within a second are taken elsewhere to Register then returned to my item.
