Thread: 1 small change to listing format PLEASE.

  1. #1

Lightbulb 1 small change to listing format PLEASE.

I have read through the forums a bit, and it appears that I am not the only one with this problem. The more Items I list... the more items I have to individually adjust when shipping rates change or if I want to adjust my policies. I am rather new to online selling, so I make mistakes and need to fix 'em fast when I notice them. =)

I have a simple suggestion: a second text window on the item listing page, where store policy and shipping rates etc. can be posted separately from item descriptions. If you did that... I could throw all of my items in one bucket and make said changes... ~INSTANTLY~. You could also make it optionally activated, so sellers would not have to use or change their heap of listings it if they did not want to...

I only have a hundred or so listings, but I break out the Scotch when I think about manually adjusting 3000+ listings in the future...

With my *limited* knowledge of web site development, it seems that this would be easy to implement. My fellow sellers might need to adjust their listings one more time *sigh* to fill out the new text window and remove the policy from the item description etc. but it would be a small price to pay for not having to do that gruelling copy-paste fiasco twice a year as the postage rates go up...

In theory, your idea makes sense. Sure would make it easier to make policy and shipping changes. In reality, my experience is that buyers will rarely go to a second page for that information.

You could always create an image with all relevant information and when prices change, just change the info on the image and keep the link.

LOL not a second page... a second text box separated on the same page by about half an inch. in reality it would look just the same to the buyer, there would be a details box... and a policy box... on the editing page you know?

Ahh ... that would be much better.

Yes! Then you could use the bucket editor to alter your policy en-masse or a category at a time without any hassle. It took 2 hours to go through all my listings last night and make adjustments to my policies one at page a time (and I probably missed one or two...). It should have been a 10 minute operation with no mistakes courtesy of bucket editing. So many Copy n' Pastes. >.<

The image idea is a good work around! Thanks Jewel.

    - Just a thought here however... we shouldn't have to 'work around' something that would be super easy for the dudes upstairs to configure - just add a second text box to the listing/editing items page. It would take 1 code jockey less time to configure it permanently than it takes me to reconfigure all my listings manually. Of course NinjaLister and the Bucket Editor would need some tweaking too...

    Just a suggestion =)

I export to Ebidloader spreadsheet and make my changes there using find and replace

It doesn't take long even with 7000 listings

Then reload to overwrite the existing listings
