Default Hitler - offensive or not?

I have a bust of Adolf Hitler that I wish to sell (far too controversial for that other well-known online auction site).

I have read through the terms and conditions etc. and can see no reason why I shouldn't sell on eBid, but I do not want to waste my time and have the hassle of the thought-police on my case. Should I go ahead and list my item?

I am sorry that I cannot tell you yes, as I am also unsure where you stand with regards to ebid (I can't wait to find out) but I would like to stand on your side of the fence.
One way or another he is an important historical figure. What I find most confusing, is that if you were to list a bust of Atilla the Hun or one of the naughty Caesars that would be ok? even Stalin!

There was something on TV called 4 Rooms where dealers bought various items. Somebody brought along a bust of Hitler that they had 'liberated' during the war. Most of the dealers would not touch it, mainly due to the type of person who might buy it as there are extreme right wingers who still admire him. If I remember rightly one of the dealers did buy it but was donating it to a museum. So I think the danger is not in the selling, but the buyer, and there is little you can do about that.

I have sold an old newspaper here before featuring news headlines about Hitler but if you have doubts about your item I would contact support@ebid.net to check if they deem it suitable for the site or not, just to be on the safe side.

I have no doubt that his actions were & that as an individual he was offensive. However there are 927 other "Hitler" listings (mainly stamps) so I don't see why you shouldn't list it.The only problem you might have is that no one would want to buy it.Is it by a famous sculptor, made of brass or bronze (scrap value!)?

I know what you mean. Mind you when I was a school (quite some time ago). One of my friends in the wargaming club used to always play the Germans, and he would have bought it, not for any right wing reason, he was simply interested in the military history and the technolgy. Takes all sorts

Agree with Becky, I'd contact support before listing, just to be on the safe side.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I personally don't see a problem with this. Hitler is a part of world history

Absolutely. And, I'm sure that among those we colonised, some would find our leaders in history just as abhorrent.

Sanitising history is not a good idea.

I believe it is legal to sell nazi items in/to USA but I don't think it's legal to sell them in/to Germany and France.

It would be best to contact support@ebid.net and ask them first.
