I think the whole process reached a(nother) low point when the Finnish heavy metal Klingons won in 2006.

Stopped paying for a TV licence and now only watch TV on-line

You still need a licence according to the statement on the TV licencing website

'You need a valid TV Licence if you use TV receiving equipment to watch or record television programmes as they’re being shown on TV. ‘TV receiving equipment’ means any equipment which is used to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV. This includes a TV, computer, mobile phone, games console, digital box, DVD/VHS recorder or any other device'.

This is the important part if you dont watch live TV -
"You don't need a licence if you don't use any of these devices to watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV - for example, if you use your TV only to watch DVDs or play video games, or you only watch ‘catch up’ services like BBC iPlayer or 4oD."

We dont pay this tax anymore either, and still not missing "live" TV.

I dont own a tv, I can do same as Moonie if I feel the urge or get the time to watch anything I really want on the iplayer.
I have no idea why we even participate any more , it makes no sense at all, is a waste of money and considering the reputation the British have for music it doesn't do our credibility any good whatsoever.
It is probably a way to get back at us for those countries who cannot deliver or who are just plain jealous or both.
Of course it doesnt help that the real talent here doesnt get put into the Eurovision either mostly
Its just one big p*** take on us again, also allowed by us, we are idiots to continue

I don't watch any TV as it is shown on TV so don't need a licence. The TV licencing people have confirmed this and sent me a refund for payments I made in advance.

my understanding of this is...if you have any equipment than can receive a tv broadcast ( a tv ) whether you watch it or not , you have to pay...but if someone is lucky enough not to pay it , good luck to them....I watch my tele , pay the licence and really grudge it........papa
