Thread: Did not get final value fee back after cancelling sale

Angry Re: Did not get final value fee back after cancelling sale

Just got stung for Final Value Fees. Waiting for reply from Admin.
Didn't know about the Cancelling thing. But what I did do was the NPB route and left NEG feedback then cancelled the sale but doing that I lost the drop down menu.
Buyer didn't read payment options or just didn't care. I don't take credit cards ( I am not a business and don't have CC payment options) and NO PayPal on small amounts.(under $30.00) there fees are just to high to accept on small purchases.
Now waiting to see if ebid refunds me. 68 cents isn't a lot but every penny now counts.
I am getting very tired of "0" bidders bidding and then not paying.
I think it is time to have the option of weather we want buyers with a 0 rating being allowed to bid.
I can do that on the dark side.

You offer paypal on your listings but within the listing you put: Sorry but I can't accept Paypal for amounts under $50.00 on tattoos.

As I'm sure you're aware, most buyers don't read the entire listing and your buyer probably didn't catch this as it's down at the bottom. Most buyers see paypal offered and that's what they use. If you don't want repeats of this, I suggest you take paypal off your listings.

I have a lot of zero feedback buyers and not had a problem with them (thus far), anyone is more than welcome to come and buy from me. After all, we ALL started out with zero feedback at some time or another...

That was an error on my part, which now has been fixed. Thanks for letting me know.
With over 350 items up for sale, mistakes happen.

If you notice the shipping (from Canada) is not cheap on Paypal paid items. I don't set the mailing rates, Canada Post does. Items are shipped with insurance to cover me, since PayPal covers the buyer. 3 times in one week I got charge backs for items (claimed) not received using non insured letter mail ( larger envelopes). That average is just a little too high, 3 buyers across the US did not get their envelopes. I've been ripped off just once to many times.

With the tattoos I send as letter mail and keep the shipping cost to a minimum. There was no Paypal offered. She complained after she used BIN.
I am selling the tattoos at a loss as it is, so Paypal is out of the question when they charge 30 cents + 3% including the cost of shipping per sale unless I send out in volume.

If you have luck with bidders with a "0" feedback record you are lucky.
The last 3 I had were all NPB. Oddly enough, they were all tattoo sales.

It was probably a mistake on buyer's part as well since they thought you accepted paypal. You might want to leave a neutral instead of negative and maybe the buyer will one day come visit your store again.....this time knowing you don't take paypal for those items. Just a thought.

Just checked, Thankfully ebid refunded the fees since I went the NPB route before cancelling the sale.
Won't be using the "Cancel" any time soon again.

Same here. I had 2 sales last month (November 2012) and of course, they were non paying bidders. I marked them as NPB, sent numerous reminder emails and cancelled the transactions thinking I'd get my fvf back, but didn't. If that's the case, I'll no longer use gallery auction, going back to free listings lol

Fyi: This was the reply from support the other day for one of my auctions. But I don't see it in my fees & invoices statement. Odd.

    "Thank you for your email.

We note that you have cancelled the auction. If an auction is cancelled, the final value fee is not automatically refunded.

We have reviewed the auction and refunded the associated final value fee.

For future reference, please see the following procedure for requesting a refund of final value fees as a result of a non-paying bidder.

You will have the option to claim back your Final Value Fees 3 days after the second payment reminder in the After Auction Log has been posted. You must have left Negative or Neutral feedback for the buyer and reported the bidder as a NPB (non paying bidder), then you will see the option "Refund final value fee" in the AAL drop down menu."
