There's two aspects under discussion. Whether a seller gets to see info about their own auctions (e.g. bids, watch-counts), and whether anyone browsing gets to see such info.
Since I've not had a bid in several years (admittedly I'm not trying very hard), I assume that showing a sea of 0 bids would discourage visitors.
Without data that only the site owners have, I don't see how we can make informed suggestions on this.

Data.. hogwash has nada to do with showing bids.
This is NOT meant for fixed price offerings.. another World.
fixed price doesn´t have bids ,the price is the price
this is obviouslly for us who are selling by auction,WE NEED IT!!
I've just been back through my sales for this year and picked out the ones that were bought by buyers bidding rather than buy it now. Jan-13, Feb-10, Mar-7, Apr-6, May-8, and I've already had one for June. Now I'm just one seller so I'm sure that it would not be a sea of 0 bids these days and it's now worth another try with a bid column.

Having some small acquaintance with the selling at auction, I venture to say that having the bidding easily visible to potential bidders would be an extremely desirable asset for those selling at auction here on eBid. Bidding begets bidding. Having the bidding activity visible for all to see should easily generate interest in the particular auction listing, the object being sold and the site in general.
Take my word for it, there is nothing more frustrating to an auctioneer than to have a room full of people all sitting on their hands. But I've seen a really tough room spring to life with just a couple of bidders getting enthusiastic over an item and the bidding take off. When it comes to bidding enthusiasm, like laughter, is contagious.
Of course, there is no way to generate enthusiasm among a bunch of empty seats at a live auction so there certainly isn't at one where the seats are in a virtual auction house. But if we can get enough enthusiasm going among the bidders we have, it should help in drawing more interested people into our virtual auction barn to see what the commotion is all about.
Frankly, not making the bidding easily visible can easily lead to potential bidders getting the impression that there is nothing worth bidding on or worse, that there is something not quite on the up and up and the bidding is being kept on the QT to hide the fact.

And as for the point about a sea of zeroes putting people off.
They would not be zeros.
It would just show the number of bids if one or more !
And most people already know that sales on ebid are not as many as on ebay.
Otherwise ebid would be bigger than ebay!
So lets get Gazza to bring the bids column back.
