Thread: Postage Increase Query.

  1. #1

    Question Postage Increase Query.

As we all know, there is going to be a massive hike in sending items abroad: to send a pattern in an A4 boardbacked envelope to Australia will now cost £3.30 - over £1 increase.

    My query is this:

If a pattern should sell today at the 'old' postage rate, what happens if the buyer is a late payer and coughs up after 30th April. Who then bears the increase in postage? I guess it is the poor seller.

Would welcome input please as I have temporarily halted overseas selling.

    Thank you.

As I've bought extra stamps at the old price I would be inclined to let the postage stay at the old price for an overlap period. However, if you don't want to do that you could always raise the price now and refund the difference if they pay before D day.

I've also bought extra stamps for Large Letter postage which doesn't give a face value and can be used after the increase. But this doesn't cover overseas shipping which would cost over £3.

Am I being a bit dumb? Is there a way around this that I am missing?

Just off out for a couple of hours so don't think I am ignoring replies xx

So far I have bought 600 Second Class Stamps as I believe they are the most flexible for my items, and the price rise at the end of April is about 39%.

I might be wrong (famous last words) but my Post Office told me that they could be used for any type of Royal Mail Service including Air Mail. So after April their value will increase from £0.36 to £0.50 each.

    Very smart move….
I have about less of 3.000 forever stamps…and I use it for everything and for every package, only sometimes not if peoples pay me enough for postage especially buyers from eBay I am not that much greedy person…but for most of even if I need to put 10 in one package I use it…huh…in post office I just ask in case if is enough if is not I pull out from my pocket and put on in package….
Long time ago I bought some but most of I have it for ‘’free’ because some of peoples don’t have the money enough to pay me for my service I do my service for private peoples too so I collect ‘’everything’’…and just to make sure to have it for free I always overcharge for my service where I suspect peoples will not have enough money and in the end I end up with enough money for my service and extra stuff for free…
What I can say….I bad or I am good no big deal…in capitalism system no other choice…

P.S. My shipping prices will NOT increase....still same deal cheap shipping Domestic and International with NO extra charge for multiple items....uff...enough writing for today...''Sunday'' is in here for me long weekend is behind me and now until next Saturday will be easy work for me....more free time....

It will cover overseas shipping if you put more than one stamp on! 3 first class large and and 1 1st class should cover it

Oh, thanks, Olivia. Math was never my strong point.

I shall hope it doesn't arise but now I know how to get around it. (late payer on t'other side),

yes, I am also another person allowing an overlap time on postage rates - until I run out of stamps bought at the old price, I am not going to get in a sweat. so if they are a late payer, well it should be fine.

Have just been to stock up on stamps, only to be told that you cannot use Large Letter stamps on overseas mail.

Appartently, senders have been having post returned.
