I use Firefox - wouldn't go back to IE for love nor money
When I7 stopped working for the pictures, I made myself start using Firefox. I am like you I stuck with what I knew and didn't have to think about to use. Now that I have used it for a couple of months I love it and it is so much faster. There is a learning curve with it but if I can do it you certainly can.
I've gone to Google Chrome, but still have Firefox 3.6 version installed on both systems. The FF4 was a real disappointment.
I'm a Firefox fan but I so agree that a spare browser is a very useful thing. I have Chrome & IE (not sure which version, I seldom use it) just in case.

Firefox is now up to release version 11. Might be worth another look.
Though I don't find a lot of difference between the major browsers (leaving out IE). I am more used to Firefox, know where to find and tweak things, so use it as my main browser. Keep all the others online for compatibility testing of web pages though.

And the other advantage of Firefox or Chrome is that the virus writers tend to target IE

I also wont use IE at all, its so clunky! - and I swear by Firefox. Mum was having a nightmare getting online on her computer with IE, then I installed firefox for her and same result, from it barely loading, she is now able to surf the web in style!
