Best way to unlock a phone.

For all you techy types....has anyone here succeeded in unlocking a mobile phone which is locked to a particular network?

I have checked with the provider and they have refused to give me a code until I have had the phone for at least 3 months.

I looked on-line but only found ads from people who wanted my Paypal email address??????

I unlocked an old Nokia (it wasn't old then, if you see what I mean!?) using instructions I found on the web. I attempted to do the same with my HTC Touch (smart phone) but couldn't get the routine to work - luckily I'd taken the precaution of choosing a widget that came with support if needed. The Nokia one was a freebie with all the stuff online, the HTC one was a little app/executable I bought (about a fiver I think). I found both by googling and looking in techy specialist forums, then googling the people who's solutions looked good to check their reputations.

Pop into the market tomorrow and see if there is a stail that will do it. There is, or was, one in Pompey market that did it for about a £10

Thanks Tony...I remember there being a stall in Gosport where that could be done but I haven't seen the stall in ages.

My phone's a blackberry and it came with no instructions.

I've looked on-line and went to some techy forums...didn't find the answer so I must have gone to the wrong ones ...lol

i got my blackberry unlocked 5 months ago. I found unlockdata.co.uk through google and it cost me £10 and was easy to do

Always a phone stall selling cases etc around in most towns they will unlock your phone for you like others have said prob around a £10 or less if you give em a big smile

ya.Recently i unlocked my mobile successfully.I bought my Blackberry mobile from USA,which is locked to AT&T network provider.I have orange sim card.So i needed to unlock my mobile .I asked my friends.They said try to buy a unlock code from online unlocking service provider.Then i searched lot of online unlocking service provider.Finally i found this site http://www.prounlocking.com/blackberry/rs16wp8/ Here they provided unlock code with simple unlock instructions via e-mail.So i easily unlocked my mobile within a day.
