My reasons for voting "seperate" are probably more personal & marketing orientated.

From a marketing view, it is altogether possible the the YDC99 "winner" could choose a charity which is not fully supported by the majority of other members. One of my aims is to get the nominated charity "on board" with publicity etc. This would fall a little bit flat if the said charity weren't seen to be as popular, or raising much money.

I like the idea of as few "rules" as possible, we already have one promised auction which would be exempted from the YDC "competition",.....if the normal guidelines are followed.
I suspect that there will be many more "exempt" auctions listed as we get nearer to June. So, being totally selfish, it would be a welcome break for me not to even try and sift out a "winner" from YDC100.

    Excellent point.

    Fair comment!

I'd forgotten the first point you make, which is odd because for me it's a bit of a clincher! Hopefully, by airing things a bit some of those who are unsure or worried about how it's heading will feel reassured. And anybody who really disagrees will feel able to say so!

I'm very concerned that the postage changes are going to have a considerable impact on all YDCs after the next one. Many items will not be worth listing - donating £1.58 for an item which reaches £2 is bearable but £2.70?

I realise that this may appear to be OT, but I think it is pertinent.

Whether it's OT or not for this discussion, I'm not sure. But it's definitely a worry. What I'd *like* to see happen is that we see a restructure to fewer, higher value items - to make the postage a) more worthwhile and b) much the same total given in the end. But, of course, the problem there is that not everybody can afford to offer higher value items, even if it's fewer of them... so we risk losing not just auctions, but eBidders from YDC. I don't see that it's anything we can do much about though, beyond wait and see.

Not really concerned one way or another, just thought maybe the winner of 99 might feel shortchanged in not getting to select the next YDC per usual. Of course if they get to select 101, that would even things out.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I understood that this was the suggestion, yes. Just skip a month, not lose the right.

So there wouldn't be an actual winner of YDC 100? (runs away in case this has already been sorted & I missed it on a thread somewhere... lol!!! I keep saying I'm thick! )

I think it would be more a case of there wasn't a prize. Just bragging rights. I don't think this level of detail has been gone into, I think Vonz wanted to judge the general view first and only thrash out details if the choice made it necessary - but again, that's guess work.

    Yep, that's my thinking......

    "separate entity" = "stand alone"

    = YDC100 has no input from YDC99 + no output to YDC101

= The winner of YDC99 will choose the charity for YDC101

Will YDC100 have a "winner" of anything? Who knows?
(but that's not to say i'm not conjuring up some physical prizes instead)
