ebay insanity! Below standard to Power Seller? In five days?

Last week I recieved notice from ebay that I was a "below standard" seller. That my Paypal funds were going to be withheld for 21 days in escrow and I had to ship withinn the first 24 hrs. and blah, blah, blah. I said the heck with that and took down all my auctions. Refunded all my customers whose payments had had been placed in escrow. I then wrote ebay a scathing email, and started selling over here at ebid. I logged in to ebay this evening and low and behold, I'M NOW A POWER SELLER on ebay!! What kind of insanity is that? You go from being considered scum of the earth to being a power seller in less than a week?

So your customers who sent you money in good faith and should have been able to assume they would get their goods, got a refund instead?

Do you think that any business should send mechandise before they recieve the funds with only the promise of some jackass company like ebay or paypal that they will be paid after the customer is "happy"? Really? You want to send me a few of your items, i'll pay you if I like them, O.K. If anything my customers should be angry because the money they sent me in "good faith" had been hijacked by some criminal corporate entity.

It is definitely getting crazy over there. I do hope you sent your customers a personal email as to why you refunded their money so they know it was all caused by the bay since the bay was going to hold your funds for 21 days and you did not want to delay shipping for that time period.

How about it moonwitch? You want to send me some of your mechandise, then after I get it and decide I like it we can have Paypal release your money. But only if i provide you good feedback, otherwise you will have to wait 21 days. Does that sound like a good deal? How about it? Of course if I don't like it and give you bad feedback, I'll probably just keep the stuff and file a complaint with paypal, in which case they will eventually give my money back anyway. Then I'll have the cash and your merchandise....sweet deal huh?

I did, This is the email i sent them.

Dear Customer,
Despite my, six years successfully buying and selling on ebay and despite my 99.3% positive feedback, ebay is calling me a sub-standard seller. Because of that, they have now decided to place the funds from my recent sales in a 21 day Paypal escrow. I cannot access these funds (payment or shipping charges). I am required, according to them, to ship the items at my expense. Once the items are delivered and the buyer provides “Positive Feedback’ I will be able to access the funds. If positive feedback is not received I must wait the entire 21 days.

You the buyer should be upset that the money that you sent to me in good faith that I would provide the item you won in my auction has been hijacked. I’m not sure what legal grounds ebay has for such action, but that is irrelevant because ebay apparently thinks your money /my money is theirs to do with what they wish.

No person, business or entity can be expected to ship an item of merchandise before they have received payment. Since I refuse to do business this way, I have refunded your money via Paypal. Please do not be upset with me, I had no control over this and ebay is refusing to discuss the matter further with me. If you want to be angry, direct your anger towards ebay. If you still wish to purchase your item(s) they will be available for sale to you at the same price on ebid where I am selling under the same name, nightwingcreations.

I do thank you for your business, I won’t however apologize since I don’t feel responsible for the actions of a corporation that has such greed and contempt for its customers.

Did eBay or PayPal actually use the word ESCROW in their communication about the 21 day hold?
