Thread: Non paying bidder process

  1. #1

    Question Non paying bidder process

Okay, question about the process. I just went through it and it seems very complicated.

    1. First, I sent the 2 required payment notices.
    2. Then I entered the NPB notification.
    3. Then I left feedback.
    4. Then I had to cancel sale.

I had to do this on several items so it was a bit time consuming.

Once I cancelled sale on item, the buyer's feedback that I had left was gone but I did get my fees back.

So my question is: could I just have cancelled sale [since buyer had not communicated nor paid] to avoid steps 1,2, and 3.

    Thanks.

The thing that really surprised me was the feedback I left for buyer was removed once I cancelled sale. Seems a waste of time leaving feedback to warn other sellers of non payers when once you cancel sale the feedback is removed. But it seems the only way to get fees back is to cancel sale.

That's why I wondered if all I had to do was cancel sale and not go through the other steps.

    That is odd.

I thought so too, but apparently that's the way the NPB process works.

I've just had a sale where the buyer had completely misunderstood just what he was buying. Once we had agreed that that was the case, I just cancelled the sale.

    Did the feedback bit vanish.

Thanks. I agree with that process whole heartedly.

But for a NPB, the process seems a bit odd. In the future, if I can just cancel the sale I will do that instead of jumping through the hoops for the NPB process. I won't be able to warn others via feedback, but at least I'll get my fees back easily. Appreciate the assistance.

I was told to wait 20 days before asking for an FVF refund. Canceling the sale seems to fall into a different category. Feedback should not be removed after an NPB has been marked. I think canceling a sale does that.
This was what I was emailed from support:

"You have a window of opportunity to claim back FVF's after 20 days. Reclaiming during this period is instant and automatic. Our experiences has shown that 20 days is a fair weighted average. Any less and there could be complications if refunded and then other issues come to light. This does not effect your option to re-list during this period if you feel that the sale is not going to go through. There are many reasons for delays, such as unexpected sickness. You have up to 75 days from the 20 day period to reclaim your refund."

I'm not waiting 20 days for the FVF to be returned. I'll just cancel the sale. As I stated earlier, I sent the 2 payment reminders, then filed NPB. When I contacted support on how to get the fees back I got the following:

    Thank you for your email.

If you wish to cancel a purchase go to "My eBid, My eBid Dashboard "Sold".
From the drop down menu select the "Cancel this sale" option. Enter the
reason in the box provided and click the submit button.

Please note this option will not be available if payment has been made or
payment has been marked as sent by the buyer.

Final value fees and Buddy Points earned will be removed.

So I will just use the cancel option in the future and forego warning others.

    Thanks for your assistance.
