I still don't understand what the API is or does. I am told it will attract more sellers though so I'm all for it. A mobile app if wanted can wait in my opinion. There are more important items I feel time and money should be spent on.
The last time this subject came up it turned out the difference between the app and creating a shortcut on your phone for eBid or others was the need to enlarge the screen when using the shortcuts.
I can do everything on auction sites via my phone that I can do on the PC without the use of apps.
Wanted yes, needed no.
And you managed 40 years without a computer !
Just because you don't understand what an API or what it could do, please don't try to put others off wanting one.
To my mind it is the best thing that ebid could do next. It would help bring more sellers over as they could better manage their inventory.
If you have some good reasons for or against then lets hear them.
Bykimbo gives some very good descriptions of what an API can do.
