This was my home town of Cleveleys near Blackpool in the recent high winds - I live a few minutes drive from the promenade, but didn't venture out !

Exactly. I got a bit of it on my windscreen before ducking down a side road away from it. The foam just washed off normally with windscreen wipers. No streaks/stains. Don't understand it. It just looked like washing up foam yet they say no detergent has been found in it.

According to the bbc The sea foam - or spume - is caused by waves whipping up seawater containing the offshore breakdown of algal blooms.

LOL! Looks like Lawrence Welk gone mad. Glad nobody has been injured driving/walking in it. Hope it doesn't have an adverse effect on the local wildlife.
