There are two under construction. Unfortunately the government, in another amazing show of competence, changed their mind about the type of aircraft that would be based on them after they were designed and now they're having to redesign large components of it.
The re-design might actually be a blessing in disguise as the first one is now due to be commissioned in 2016, meaning there will be only 4 years where we don't actually have any aircraft to fly off of it. By 2020, we will be able to project a vast amount of influence anywhere on the globe with the devastating firepower of 6 aircraft.
The second one is unlikely to be ever kitted out and looks like being mothballed before it's even bullt.
Shambles!
I don't think we have any aircraft on the books suitable to go on them anyway.
I do think the loss of the Harrier fleet and carriers was a bad move with nothing to replace them. Times are tough though, and Defence spending is always an easy target when not at war. Though history would indicate that course is usually a mistake.
thanks for Info.
