Sellers should not be held hostage to the expectations of buyers who can't be bothered to read what's in front of them. If a seller cannot get to the post office - for whatever reason - and is up-front about it on the listing, then the buyer is at fault if they don't read it. The vast majority of sellers cannot change their lives around just to meet the expectations of the lazy.

Doesn't really matter who's "fault" it is and where the blame lies. All folks do not read the entire listing, lazy, overlooked something or just didn't comprehend what they read. Sellers can point out "my ship time is stated in my listing" if questioned about it but that doesn't help change the buyers opinion of the seller, it only proves who is right.

"You can't please all of the people, all of the time." To try to do so is sheer stupidity.

Trying to please everyone, in my opinion isn't stupid at all. Beleiving 100% of the people will be pleased is in fact a bit nieve but one must try.

With sales every few minutes at this time of the year, it would be cause delays to my customers if I was to nip to the post office every time one came in.

I state clearly in all my listings that if payment received by 6 pm then it will be sent out the following day. (just now I have extended that to 8pm).

Orders received after 8 pm on a Thursday get sent out on a Monday. I dont send items out on a Friday as I dont want them laying around sorting offices all weekend,. (I also state this in all my listings). My missus not keen on this - today for example she got 3 sackfuls!

it depends. If no postage time is listed, then I think two days maximum. I always try to post within 48 hours, however on my listings (because of theatre/ university thesis/ work/ health issues) I always state that I post within three days, that just gives me that extra smidge of leeway. Its clearly stated so the buyers can see that before buying/ placing a bid. I would rather say "within three days" and yet actually be able to post same day - as does happen- to avoid disappointment on thier part.

Our post office is not open on the weekends, but I generally go over most week days. My practice up until now has been to send a message to the buyer right after they pay letting them know when I will be mailing their item. Usually it has been same day, next day, or the Monday following. If there was some type of problem ... I was sick or if there was freezing rain or a blizzard happening, I would hope that a buyer would be understanding (as long as I keep them informed of my intentions, of course and then follow through).

No holding anyone hostage, and I did read it. The guy said delivery would be 5 to 7 days. Nothing was said about actually shipping time, and I was curious so I asked.

Also you know what you do when you assume, right?

Since when was I writing about you?

I thought this was an open topic on a general subject.

You weren't? Sorry you posts had a lot of venom in them.

Sometimes I think that other sellers will have the ridge time table I strive for, or at least can answer my questions in a clear very specific manner.
