That doesn't seem to be relevant to the problem posted, sorry. The issue is with people who can't work out how to pay, so keep buying more instead.

I don't mind having something that is optional ...

... but I agree with you Naturelady that I wouldn't want the automatic payment system taken away altogether I think it would slow down transactions considerably. If I know the seller then I prefer to pay straight away to speed things up and not keep having to check if they have sent me an invoice and I get lots of buyers that do the same.

What I would really like to see is some kind of shopping cart system attached to the site where buyers could check their purchase and amend if necessary before paying but sellers would still need to be able to give postage discount if more than one item is purchased.

    Two suggestions...

    The easy one...
Since no one ever reads pop up messages (even though they claim that they do). Once the "Buy Now" button is pressed two things happen:

1 The "Buy Now" button gets disabled.
2 A previously hidden checkbox, or another button gets visibled (a blatantly made up word) right next to (or above) the disabled buy now button. It says something clear along the lines of "I want to buy another one" but it does nothing but make the buy now button enabled again. Beside the button could be some additional blurb: "Press this only to add an additional item. To pay, go and press some other clearly marked button" (be it Paypal, or Google or whatever).

For the majority of buyers, it will make no difference. Those wanting a single item (or those using the quantity option) will see nothing different. Those genuinely wanting multiples but who forgot to make the quantity 2 now can buy an extra one. It's only those that are impatient and press the pay button 5 times, whilst ignoring the pop up that will see a difference. Except that now there's no excuse. They opted in to buying another one, and then they bought it.

The important bit is making the extra button completely clear and unambiguous. It must be made blatantly obvious that they're actively choosing to buy an additional item.

    The hard one...
Implement a shopping basket, where nothing is bought until you visit the basket and "check out".

If a single payment option is available then we are going to show the actual checkout form on the BuyNow confirmation page. If more than one then the "Pay With" buttons will show prominently. This will save the click that takes buyers back to the auction page and also in some cases where only 1 payment option is available another click to show the form.

We're also currently working on a "Cancel this sale" and "Edit quantity sold" options for the Seller's AAL dropdown.

Sounds fine to me Gazza. Talking of payment buttons when are we going to get Skrill (Moneybookers) that we were promised months ago ?
