Default Probably a really silly question but how do I close a forum thread?

    Hi,
I have just tried to close an old "Plug Your Auction" thread of mine so I could start a new one - however I found I had to add an entry and then "Post a reply" in order for the close this thread to take effect - this caused a new entry to be displayed in the Forums list on the home page. Is there a way to just close the thread without having to add a new entry?

I did search the forum but couldn't find anything obvious but I may have missed it.
    Thanks,
    Marion

Not silly at all, IMHO a very good question. Is there a delete option for the thread?

Am bumping up for expert advice.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Administration > delete thread - another page opens and you have to click delete again. (I think this is how it is done).

Thanks - that is great - I knew I must have been doing it wrong.

You can also do a search for all your plug threads and see if you happen to have more than one.....

I wish we were allowed to have 2 plug your auctions threads running at once.

I think as long as it is closed it is ok to start another. Go to Administration > Close Thread

By doing it that way, if you wanted to use it again, at a different time; you would just go back to Administration > Open Thread

On your first post, down the bottom, click "Edit Post"
Then on the base line click "Delete"
Then click "Delete Message" and then click "Delete Post"

My silly question is where do I find 'administration'?

I used to take that approach, but when I suggested it on the forums I got majorly shouted down. I think the "you must delete" rule is just daft, but it does get reinforced (mostly by other ebidders!) regularly. And the rule wording does *say* they have to be removed, not just closed. Daft, as I say, but doing it any other way is giving people a stick to beat you with, alas.
