***BREAKING NEWS***92.7 Lake FM has received official confirmation from the Premiers office and the Government of Canada that the Royal Couple will infact be visiting Slave Lake. Their Royal Highnesses are set to arrive at the airport in Slave Lake at approximately 11:30am. They will be greeted by Mayor Karina Pillay-Kinnee, Reeve Denny Garrett, The Cheif of the Sawridge Band and the Premier. Their Royal Highnesses will arrive at Northern Lakes College at 12:10 where they will meet with emergency services personnel from the fire brigade, the RCMP and the medical response team. From there they are scheduled to meet with families devasted by the disaster. Their Royal Highnesses are set to leave Slave Lake at 1:30pm.

It's very slow. Lots of people want to get started rebuilding, but when you get politics and insurance companies working together you just know it will be years before it's all done. Some people, like myself, with minor damage have started to repair their damage. I now have a new roof and I have vinyl siding waiting to go on my garage. I'm all done with the insurance company and right now am getting ready for 6 weeks in the Yukon and Alaska. I just need to get away from all this destruction for a while.

Tomorrow Zone 1 can start their demolition. Zones 2, 3 and 4 Start in August thru to next summer (for Zone 4) So the majority of those that lost their homes may have to wait till next summer to clean off their lots. This is to give the town and Utility companies time to rebuild the infrastructure before the new homes go in.

The Co-operators Insurance Company (with lots of Sponsors) Just put on a free 3 day concert of hope for all us residents. We had some top named groups like Dwight Yoakum, Charley Major, Nazareth and The Stampeders.

Looking out my front room window, most of the street looks normal, But out my kitchen window, it looks like a scene from a war movie, complete with concentration camp fences and guards. Some people have put in real nice flower gardens and yard work, I try to concentrate on these places as I go around town.

It's going to be so nice to get out of here for a few weeks.
