That is indeed a pain in the butt. It`s rather silly really as an actual picture of the item for sale conveys so much more than a stock picture and description.

I totally agree. If I'm buying a book I want to see the condition it's in not a stock photo that is why I've always used my own descriptions in my book store. Sigh - it's a right pain !

Couldn't agree more. IMHO an actual description, together with the actual item pic, gives a much better feel for the actual item. I've never trusted stock pix.

Hmmmmm, not sure what to do now, will have to have a think on this...

Best wishes for many sales to all,

This is my reply from the help desk, while it does not reasure me at this time it sounds like we will hear more by ther end of the week

Ultimately, you should be fine if you fill in the brand.
Unique Product Identifiers and Why Google Needs Them
Unique product identifiers are product codes or other values associated with an individual product. The primary set of unique product identifiers are Global Trade Item Numbers (GTINs), which include UPC, EAN (in Europe), JAN (in Japan), and ISBN. Manufacturer Part Number (MPN) can be used to identify a specific product if it is accompanied by the manufacturer's brand name.

Later this week we will be uploading features to allow you the entry of MPN's which will help if you cannot upload ISBN/UPC Codes.

What I've found that a number of my images are shown as the main one when you do google shopping search, & get the available from x number of stores compare prices, not the stock image.

Obviously the gallery images, not the stock ones, are still the ones shown if the item comes up as an individual one

Want to see something that is going to be fun, i got an auction to accept a UPC #, now look at the auction and see the info that it wants me to add,

Also, i searched my store that has this auction in it, by UPC, search did not find it. Got to learn more about ETSY.

Well I am only selling what is around the house so to speak - I use my own photos and descriptions and will continue to do so...
I don't sell anywhere else and just have a mixture of items (now that sounds like a plug!!!) ...will be interesting to see if sales fall and if so by how much!!!
