Thread: EBid Online reviews being Used by other auctions!!

  1. #1

Default EBid Online reviews being Used by other auctions!!

I have just written a review of eBid.net on Ciao (It was very positive) BUT.....
eBay has commandeered a link right under the eBid Name...see link here
    http://www.ciao.co.uk/sr/q-ebid

( PLEASE NOTE Copy and Paste this link into browser tool bar. If you click on the link you will be taken to ciao's home page!!!)

Is there any way the Boys could stop this happening?

Also the old eBid .co.uk logo is still being used by reviewers and only one ebid.net review. I think this must be confusing for browsers.

I wasn't sure where to but this alert.....
I feel maybe Mark or Gazza could look at this somewhat "blurry" image of eBid and perhaps try of clear things a little. I am sure in time it would sort out but I am very concerned about ebay's sales tactics here!!!

Surely it's just a smooth bit of ebay placement? They've got a sponsored (I'd guess) button so that anybody who searches the site for specific items can go and find that specific item on ebay. The software has no way of knowing that the keyword put in is a competitor site, not a product, so it just works as it would for anything else. All seems perfectly sensible to me.

Looks like an ebay 'spoiling' tactic to me.

    Very childish and desperate!

Sorry, but that's just ridiculous. It's professional. If eBid had that sort of budget they'd do it like a shot, I bet. People are screaming for ebid to get their name out there more, but whenever ebay does it people pop up and say silly things like this.

Ebays huge budget means they pop up all over the place.
    A bit like a rash.
Like them or loah them you can't easily ignore them.

    Hold Hard Bykimbo!
I believe Pinkpanther is voicing his opinion. He is entirely at liberty to do this on eBid.
My opinion is that this particular instance is NOT professional. It is more TACTICAL.

Yes the market out there is cut-throat but the placing of the yellow button with eBay on it, right underneath the name of eBid, is a masterpiece of UNDERHAND marketing. Yes it is legal. Yes! It is the way of the Marketing world but NO! I am not silly to pop up and point out something that I feel may have a detrimental effect on eBid and ultimately my sales.

The very ethos of eBid is the loyalty and supportiveness of the members that make up the ebid membership. The members in the forums here respect each other and readily accept that everyone is entitled to their views.
I trust that your use of the words "ridiculous" and "Silly" were not intended to be read as being condescending or dismissive. Unfortunately that is how I construed your answer.

As I stated in my opening post. I am also observing the fact that the old eBid.co and the new eBid.net are side by side and could cause confusion to browsers. Maybe some strategically placed posts in comparative websites such as Ciao, by someone who is adept at writing concise sales literature and who is well versed with the history and sales strategies of eBid, would not come amiss.
