That eBid would stop referring to all listings as 'auctions' when they are not. Why can't they call then 'listings' as a generic term.
The new message boxes on the Holiday Notice are not very clear because of this fixation with the term 'auction'.

it might have something to do with fact it ....is an auction ste ????...........papa
That's the point, it is not exclusively an auction site - it is a selling site. Many items are not being sold by auction, so referring to all listings as 'auctions' can make some references confusing or inappropriate.
A case in point is the new message shown on items carrying a Holiday notice:
Which, I believe, would read far better as:The seller of this auction has placed a Holiday notice on this auction. BuyNow is currently not available. The notice can be seen just above.
That makes it more generic (i.e. it does not refer to everything as an auction) and also removes the 'Holiday notice' reference - which likely would mean nothing to anyone but other eBid sellers. The seller has temporarily suspended sale of this item. BuyNow (or Bidding) is currently not available. See the seller's notice above for more details.
This is just an example. There are many places on the site where not referring to everything as an 'auction' would aid clarity.
Perhaps Auction is a historical reference to where it all came from, even though auction sites these days do not have many auctions.

Why? - I still prefer to list as auction + Buy Now
Gives a bite at both cherries that way.
Plus, as a seller, I used to get as excited as the buyers once bidding started - not always about the final price, I used to have favourite buyers that I'd secretly root for to win the item - yeah, sad I know, little things please .... and all that - but cut me some slack, it's tough being the only English speaker within 100 miles.
I agree.
Ebid is one of the few alt sites that does auctions.
But more items on here are BIN rather than auction.
So I always use the term listing, unless it is referring to an auction.
(Auction is really an outdated term in terms of the internet)
Of course there is still a place for auctions for some items.
