Default Your auction file was not uploaded!

    Hi folks.

I have had no end of problems with this site and (in particular) Ninja Lister. I thought I'd give the programmers, etc. some time (months and months) to fix the glitches because every time I opened Ninja Lister it said all my auctions were 'Good to Go' and then said "Your auction file was not uploaded!" Other users have given the excuse that there aren't that many people working on Ninja Lister but I have to say after paying £50 membership (along with all the other life-time members), I would have thought a little more effort would have gone into it.

I have tried to upload my auctions at least 20 times and have just updated Ninja Lister thinking that would solve the problem I had all those months ago. It is still unable to upload my auctions (even though they are all 'Good to Go') and chucks the message "Your auction file was not uploaded!" at me again and again. After another look at my NON-UPLOADING NON-auctions, I've noticed that (once again!) Ninja Lister has deleted the first 12 of my listings (I'm listing some comics and issues 1-12 have just vanished!). In case you can't tell, I am starting to get mightily peeved off on all fronts.

What on earth am I doing wrong and should I just give up on eBid, accept that I have completely wasted £50 and go back to the dark side? I thought I had found the perfect alternative but at least Turbo Lister works without deleting hours of work! Any help would be gratefully accepted and much appreciated. Cheers.

What was support's response when you sent them the data file?

Their response was along the lines of, "We got it working here so we've got no idea." That was yesterday. I sent them some screen captures, as they requested and haven't heard a peep since. Not the most helpful, really. Friendly and all that but not actually helpful.

I guess if they don't know the answer it's better not to bull****! But I do realise that's not quite the answer you're hoping for, sorry. If you've already put *everything* into NL it might be too late to suggest this, but have you looked at the spreadsheet bulk uploader to see if that works for you? Might be a way to get a start made while you wait for the boys to work out what's happening with your NL. I assume you've got too much to put up one at a time via the web page?

You raised this elsewhere, and I asked you then if you were sure you were online and/or your firewall was not blocking NL from connecting to eBid. This will be indicated in the status bar at the bottom of NL by the text Status: Offline if NL is unable to communicate with eBid.

bykimbo - good advice but I'm just not at all au fait with html which seems to be more than a little helpful with the bulk uploader (the description element, at least). I'll try to get some time to have a proper look at it later (I'll check the tutorial section, if I get a chance) but my hours are pretty full as it is. The advantage of NL, to me, was that I didn't have to go hunting all over the place for codes and categories. It's all menu driven and pretty easy to use (well it would be if it was uploading).

astral276 - Ninja Lister says it is 'Status: Online' so I don't think it's that.

I asked the support folk if there were any programs that conflict with NL but have had no response yet. They are, usually, pretty quick with their return messages but it's been over 24 hours now so I'm a bit concerned that they've washed their hands of it.

I sent them an "Any help?" message earlier (as a response to their e-mail of yesterday) but they haven't got back. I'm hoping that they are trying to work out what the problem is and that's why they haven't responded yet but I'm not holding out much hope.

I'm going to give it one more go (actually two - I thought I'd try again), as I type this, and see what happens. And the result is...

"Your auction file was not uploaded! Try again please!" TWICE! BU*%ER!

This is the only program, on my PC, that is having any difficulties so I'm really confused. I really hope I'm just being uber dense and missing something obvious!

If anyone else has had the same problem and/or can offer any more advice, I'd be eternally grateful.

    Cheers

The reason I suggested your firewall is that the only way I can generate the error message you describe is to lock down my firewall (so NL cannot communicate with eBid) and then attempt an upload. In that situation, on clicking to upload, I get the 'You are about to upload...' dialogue, click on OK, the upload commences, the progress bar gets to around 8% and then sits there. The only option then is to click on Cancel and then the error message you are getting is displayed.

Is the above sequence of events what you are seeing? You only say you get the error message - with no indication of any other steps between clicking upload and getting the message.

Hi, everyone. STUPID PERSON here again!

It turns out that the problem was me.
    It wasn't my firewall.
    It wasn't Ninja Lister.
It wasn't eBid in any way shape or form.
Can anyone guess...my photos are just too bloomin' big!

Each of my images came out at slightly over 3 megs which means that uploading just over 30 auctions resulted in a file that was over the 100 megabyte limit for each upload.

    Silly, silly boy!

I think some image compression might be necessary.

So..many thanks to all for all of your advice but I have to give extra big thanks to eBid support for pointing this out.

My brain always does this! I can see the forest but where are the trees?

Anyway, off to bed now and then I'll be getting stuck in next week.

Thanks, again, eBid support folk (and not to forget 'bykimbo' and 'astral276' who helped remove other possibilities from the pot)

    Yippee!!!

Not so silly. It's an easily overlooked mistake. At least now there're more solutions to offer the next user that has problems.

Not silly; nobody else thought of it.

It would seem reasonable to expect NL to check the size of the upload file and return an appropriate error message if it exceeds any limit.
