Just started on ebid - started a store - that was ok, put some items on - that was ok, forgot to tick 'show in store' , went back redid, the items are in auction , the store is 'online', but store does not appear in stores listing (, - what have i done wrong

You haven't done anything wrong, it's all fine. Your store shows on your "All About Me" page, and your items are in your store. The list of stores site-wide isn't updated in "real time", but in batches twice a day. Your store should appear there tomorrow.

It should appear sooner than that. eBid recently changed to updating store counts (which affects the store list) every 4 hours rather than the previous 12 hours.

I usually just say "tomorrow" regardless of time of day, it saves them rushing back every ten minutes and saves me having to check the clock. ))
