    Default Would Anyone Object

I was just reading Andumi post another seller considering joining us at Ebid, We have some great sellers on here with fantastic items, but we do not seem to reach coverage like the other side,
Ebid is a great contender to rival Ebay and with the right advertising Ebid could match and probably topple The other side from its No 1 Position.

I am amazed at the amount of people that have never heard of Ebid especially in the USA and like the original post writer only found ebid through seeking an alternative to the other side.

So my question is how many people would object to paying a small listing fee to help cover advertising for Ebid or is this thought totally out of context

I was just wondering so please dont block me from the forum

The whole idea of joining ebid was to get away from unfair and unesseccary fees!

Thing to remember as well is The 'Bay' got all of their original 'Advertising' by word of mouth.

'have you heard about this new auction site? It's awsome!'

We just gotta keep yelling an telling! It's the only way to go!

Thank you Pink Panther I think we all do a lot of yelling and telling but it is difficult enticing our buyers from the other side, I think that once people do cross over they will stay or certainly give it a look from time to time,

My concern are the ones we are unable to reach

Personally I didnt join for the free fees although that is a bonus for many of us

The other sides fees are unfair and hardly manageable for small sellers without question I wasnt suggesting we follow suit with them
The buyers are not aware of the fees we pay so it dosent matter to them

I would say that Ebid is certainly more popular in the UK but the USA are so vast we are just not reaching the buyers
We would all benefit from a little advertising

When I was in the UK 75per cent of my sales were from overseas and I just think we are missing out

I will continue the yelling and telling lol

hi everybody!! heres my two cents
the more sellers that seek alternatives and leave the other side will eventually take their customers with them. i sell on three sites right now. this one being my favorite so far. when i do sell on the other side i send a card to my buyer letting them know that they can find the same items here for less. i think its important to remember that our customers want a better deal so if we over charge here (which i have seen ) and we over charge for shipping (which i have seen also) we will never outdo the other site. we are saving on fees so we have to sell the item for less here to draw the buyers. why would someone come here to buy when it costs less on the other site? i personally think that is one of the biggest problems next to advertising. (mind you i am not saying that all or even most sellers here do that)
that being said this site has it all, so now it is up to us to promote it the more sellers that come here the more advertisement we will get and the more buyers will come. Like pink panther said the other site was only word of mouth a first and now they are a giant who has forgotten where it came from. ebid has been around just as long in the UK but has never tried to over run its sellers (its been in the US about 6 years or so) i myself was looking for an alternative selling platform, alot of people are and they are finding ebid and loving it here
good luck and i wish you all great sales

Paid my bit to list for free for lifetime.

Wouldnt be paying a penny more for for listing.

I would however be quite willing to pay a higher fvf for sales if it boiled down to it.

This subject comes up every six months or so, and the solution to the "problem" is always asking ebid to raise fees to pay for traditional advertising methods. Those don't work anymore because there is no longer a monopoly on auction sites, and auction sites are no longer closed pools of members, people shop all over the web. TV/radio ads don't reach them specialized items, they just invite everyone to look at the site. New method of advertising for a site, has sites They are using search engines to find their particular items. To reach them sites need to download listings to search engines, which distributes items and site advertiisng all over the web. That is online shopping of the future, not the past.

Subject comes up every once and a while, and the answer is always that ebid has to raise fees to pay for traditional advertising. That does not work anymore. There is no longer a monopoly on auctions sites (a la feebay), and auctions sites now don't advertise for themselves, they use more effective advertising by downloading actual listings to search engines. The search engines spread the listings far and wide, and the buyers follow the goodies into the site. Mission accomplished, the site gets attention. As long as the site is professional looking (ebid is), and the seller offers good product/price and takes PP, the sale is made.

So buyers don't need to "know" the ebid name in order to shop here. They just have to find a terrific item they want to buy, and go for it via google or TheFind. That leads them to ebid. Members spreading the word does not hurt either!!

Times change. Those sites that do not change with the times are left in the dust. ebid is progressive and that persistence is paying off with a site that grows every month. Feebay is losing sales each month, so it is hard to imagine the advertising methods they used ten years ago, are the way to promote ebid.

I don't have any spare cash, but I do sometimes have spare time, so I prefer to "pay" the extra by putting a bit of effort into promoting eBid - I certainly can't afford to pay more in fees. There are sites I could use more that have higher costs with higher sales, but I can't justify the expense. I also agree with Delta that the world has moved on and traditional advertising models are no longer as successful as they used to be. I think a lot of established companies haven't worked that out yet. Sure, the really major campaigns are good at getting or keeping a brand name in the public eye, but I hardly think even a major hike in fees will support prime time TV and sponsorship of top league sports teams, and that's probably all that works now.

Why don't eBid just charge us higher fees to build their own F1 car, then 80 million people will see it every race

    The again, maybe not
