Thread: Invoices waste ink & 1 solution.

  1. #1

Default Invoices waste ink & 1 solution.

See screen shot, why is it needed to show the shipping method for each item individually? Surely if things are on 1 invoice then all get sent the same way. So rather than saying 2nd class (as an example) for each item just have 1 thing next to the shipping total that states which way it is being shipped.

Yes I know we could all save ink by not sending an invoice / packing slip, but looks better when you send one IMO

I would also like the buyers address to be above my (sellers) address then i could just cut the top bit off and use it on the envelope, rather than printing 2 off. One to cut up (to obtain the precise seller address to afix envelope) and the other to enclose with purchase.

I think Sarah is just showing off that she has long invoices to print out!

If only, I would then show both pages. I didn't mention that if the shipping bit was missing I might be able to get all items on 1 page rather than 2.

But it is nice to have long invoices, especially when they are for charity

I think your idea about having less on an invoice is very good Sarah but I would be very interested to know why you think it looks better to send one ?

Personally I think it is a terrible waste of ink and paper not to mention the electric to use the printer. In all my years of selling I have never sent an invoice/packing slip apart from once when someone requested one to be sent seperately from their parcel. None of my customers over the years have ever complained or made a comment about not getting one.

It's nice to have the option there for the odd occasion but all invoices I receive in parcels go straight into my recycling bag. From a buyers point of view as I have them stored on my email why do I need another copy ?

I always try and use recycled packaging so to print out invoices seems a real waste to me and undoing the good that the recycling does. Just my opinion on it.

Well it appears to be better than it was. I had one that was eight pages and probably not as many items as your example. It does still need work though.

Here is another way: Use "My Defaults" >> "Notes to buyer" add your address to that box, it will then be ready on all invoices.
Step 2: copy buyers address from the order details & paste into the note to sellers box of the ACTUAL INVOICE just before sending to buyer.
Step 3: Print off, you can now cut off the top section for address lables & still have a invoice (the lower section) to send to buyer with the goods.

...a bit wacky i know! but it works

    Happy Buying & Selling

There are several reasons why I send an invoice / packing slip, the main reason is because I sell the way I like to be sold to.
I like to receive a printed invoice with my purchases, but if I don't get one that will not stop me going back to the same seller.
If it's for a multi-order then the buyer has an instant check list to see that all items are there, also from my view, I can print the invoice off and then write the skus next to the item, which makes finding & packing the order faster.
If it's for a single item, I print off and then put in my "to pack" pile and pack faster, also the buyer can see that I have sent what they ordered
In other words it's all part of my system to print an invoice-packing slip

I prefer self advesive labels for the envelope. You can copy and paste the buyers address very easily on eBid.

Fair comment Sarah, I can see your point when you are selling loads of small items. I suppose it's never really worried me or my customers as I sell bigger things and only a few at a time. Maybe if I sold things like stamps or coins in large quantities then it would justify using the ink and paper to print one out.
