I've not read the posts in this thread because it's too big and I can't be bothered going through them all, so sorry if I'm duplicating what has already been said.

I think it's important to be able to talk about other sites on here because we can learn from their mistakes and their good ideas. I don't see the point of using made up names for ebay as I doubt that it has any effect on sales, folk have heard about ebay long before they heard about ebid. I know that the search engine bots pick up what we post but in my opinion that's a good thing as it could direct people to ebid when the post shows up in the search results. So I don't understand why folk get their knickers in a twist when ebay is mentioned by name.

I don't think that it is a good idea to have a forum just for discussion of other sites, mainly because most of the threads will be putting other sites down and if visitors see a forum full of folk bitching about other sites then it would make eBid look bad. I think we should leave it in the KT where the threads are mixed in with more positive threads.

    That's my 2p worth.

My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

And don't forget that if you post anything on the ebay forums to use The Hammer as our nickname (non de plume).
It is starting to catch on like The Ranch, The Moon, The River etc.

The hammer is on ebid's logo, and it signifies auctions, which is what we offer, but those others do not.

    Very well said Yorkie.

I've just voted "yes, anywhere in the forums"

As yorkie says, I think it's wrong to have a forum specifically for other sites, where in the majority of cases these sites would be knocked down.

The KT has all kinds of personal posts, including health, accidents, social issues, etc. etc.

The KT and Ebid forums in general also have a number of very knowledgable (sp?) people, who are able to give advice on a great number of different issues.

Many newbies come here after they've found that the latest policy change "over there" was one too many for them (that includes myself, when I first started here). It's good for them to vent their grievances and be welcomed warmly by established members and be given tips and hints how to make the most of Ebid.

Several weeks ago I posted about a purchase that had not gone smoothly on another auction site (not "youknowwhere") and was attacked by one regular for doing so. (If you know who you are, this is not meant as a gripe against you!) The reason I posted here and asked the question was, because generally someone on here comes up with very good advice on any "non-Ebid" issue and as far as I see it, a purchase/sale gone sour elsewhere is as much a personal issue as a bank charging ott for going overdrawn, an insurance company not paying out for a claim, dealing with a sudden illness, and so on.

    Oh and by the way:
Sticky at the top of the KT: "welcome to new members". How many posts mention "over there" either directly or indirectly? Why is that threat allowed to stay?

If you mean me then I'm sorry you feel that way.

If you don't mean me then I'm still sorry you feel that way.

I think my point was... why moan about a sale gone bad elsewhere unless both parties can present their case on here? Did you let the other party know so they at least had the right to reply
