I'd like to make an unpopular suggestion; if there are more than 20 suggestions, leave out the ones that we know aren't going to be implemented.

Basically, anything that would give hard data to compare eBid unfavourably against feebay isn't going to be implemented. Yes, it would be interesting to easily see the sell through rate for each category but it ain't gonna happen 'til it's worth writing home about. Likewise (sorry to Florida and Cornish), Da Boyz bowed to pressure to show bids last year and then took them off when it affected sales and join-ups so I really don't see them repeating the experiment until there is significantly more traffic. Bids showing on store pages may be a possibility but it's too soon to ask for them back on the main site.

Sorry, I just think including certain suggestions, no matter how popular with members, would be a waste of limited options.

I can see a lot of merit in that idea, and if this was just for me I'd definitely go with it. Since I'm trying to produce a consensus I'm not sure it's right, but I'll bear it in mind as an option if things get crowded, thanks.

I reckon that should cut the list down to 2, or maybe 3, suggestions then.
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

It could be helpful if Gazza were to read through this thread, and let us know if any of the things brought up in this thread are already being worked on.
That could cut down a poll.

As you may recall, wrong categories in the craft section almost caused fistfights a while back. Way too many wrong items in wrong categories.

This week we started to work on suggestion to ebid for changes to the cats/sub cats and found some inconsistencies. i.e. one craft listed in two places, some categories buried in cat that has nothing to do with it, etc. Easy to see how sellers got confused and hard to believe shoppers actually found the items when browsing.

Not that this is always the case, but now that we are growing fast, listings are mounting, sellers are bringing over thousands of tiems, we may need to keep on eye on the cats and to suggest changes if the cats are incorrect, need expansion etc. Not just report wrong categories.

NO, it something goofy happens, it is great to go back and give that listing a click and it is relisted again. Nice backup. Does no harm to sit there for a while and you can tell if you relisted it or not.

(Mind you I don't fancy needing to check up to 200 shipping location check boxes & there are some countries I wouldn't sell to).

Letting the Seller/Buyer choose the language they view the site in.
The site has finally been translated into other languages, but each is only available for that language site, so if you're French Canadian you can only use English.
If you're Swedish & living in South Africa, you should be able to view the site in Swedish if you want to, NOT the currency, that would still need to be correct for the homesite, but everything else.

Make a clear plus sign next to About this store, (if it was permanently on view it would drop the store categories too low), or move it to below the store categories.

On the Buy view Category Page, put total listings next to each parent category so it's obvious there are items there, even if that parent category has no sub cats, as in Other, in Books Comics & Magazines, looks like it's empty & it's not.

    Individual Notice for each store.

A Notice from Admin, section added to My eBid, that would appear at the top of the My eBid Page when active, this could be used to inform of any problems with the account, email bouncing, card due to run out, or removed listings (including the reason), or even a request to move listings in the wrong category, with a time limit to comply.

Removed listings should be moved to Items I ran unsold, an email giving clear details of the reason for closure should be sent.

Better monitoring of Bulk Uploads, there are still way too many duplicate listings getting through.

    Categories,
well that could be a very long post just on its own, many of these are a total mess, some items have too many places they could be listed, others no place at all.

I really think we should work through each Parent Category, with input from active sellers (& buyers) from all countries to try & get them straightened out.

Too many people request a category, with the promise, change it to this & 100's 1000's of listings will be added, instead Zilch

New Category Requests need to be dealt with on a regular basis, once a week, or once a month.
Each request thread should be answered by admin at that time, Yes added, No not at this time, or Please give us more info.

That all I can think of at the mo, though I'm sure there are more.
I agree with your category comments. See my other post. Until we started to look at one area, we thought everything was fine too. Then saw the doubles, etc. Hard to punish someone for listing in wrong cat when the cat is missing, doubled, hidden amongst an unrelated area etc.

But this is a big job, but as more items are added, it has to be done to make listing and shopping easier. This problem is now becoming more apparent because we are getting busier and listing more items.
