I think it is ok, but mixing it in with other conversations does cause some confusion. Especially when someone is having a problem with another site, but doesn't make it very clear. Having a forum just for that would be ok. The rules about other sites is very confusing to me, since there are all kinds of ads for other sites all over eBid.

As far as I remember there used to be much more open discussion, unfortunately SOME members of the now defunct Tazbar, only joined eBid to spam the eBid forums, there was no discussion involved.

As always the minority wrecking things for everyone.

For myself, this is eBid & I don't really need to read about what other sites (including feebay) are doing here.

IF I was interested, I'm quite capable of reading the site's own forums,or announcements, or places like PSU & pheebay, where you can if you wish discuss all venues.
Mind you most of the time PSU is more like a war zone between two sites each accusing the other of spamming.

If I want to find the names of other sites, well that's what a search engine is for.

There have been times when I've seen or read about interesting features used on other sites, which I believe would enhance eBid if implemented, on those occasions I email support with the suggestion & if relevant a link, & leave it up to them.

Very well put. I haven't voted yet but your remarks make excellent sense to me.

It would be extreme to totally forbid mention of the E word and I recognize that people freshly landed here are still decompressing from that place, so can be allowed a few vents.

It would be sad to see this place degenerate into spending resources discussing other sites. Powersellersunite.com is an excellent place for that. Leave eBid as an oasis.

I see my post has been taking off in the other thread

then people wonder why others get cross

There was absolutely no reason to have the post reported, and people say that folk on ebid are ok

This is what the post said

I happen to like e*** and use it all the time

and I bet your bottom dollar that there are others on here that still buy and sell on there

NOW what the eck was wrong with that post to make someone report it

threads stay on kt if they are putting the otherside down, but if someone says anything good then it seems to be taken off

If your here then dont go on about the other side, simplesssssssss

but ebid should treat posters the same if e*** is mention in any capacity, not pick and choose

BTW it dont bother me if discussions are made about the otherside, but respect others feelings about it, do not even try to compare this site with that site, there is no comparrison as yet

At the moment people argue about whether or not XYZ should have been posted here because it didn't happen on ebid, though, so I don't quite follow why arguments would necessarily increase?

I'm not proposing a change in the rules about personal attacks, swearing, bringing the site into disrepute etc - so why would bickering be worse? If we can talk about ABC without too much bickering, why not XYZ?

I don't understand why allowing a discussion about selling elsewhere would change that. I think politics and religion are far more contentious and would rather see those banned than selling sites.

There is a reason our boards continue to be pleasant. And I believe that not "discussing" other venues is part of that.
I don't know why you think that. Why would we be less capable of discussing a problem with a sale made on BIGOLSELLINGSITE politely than we are here and now?

Note: not saying you're wrong, just don't follow the argument yet and would like to understand why you think it would make that difference.

Just have to mention that if I had been asked this question before joining Ebid, I would probably have voted yes or dont mind either way.

However, having been posting on the boards for a year and a half with almost no sign of arguements I have to vote No. I want our forums to stay the welcoming place they have always been.

This is a eBid forum and I do not see any need to discuss other selling sites with either negative or positive posts. I do get annoyed when I see positive threads reported/pulled whilst any running another site down stays and seems welcomed.

This seems to happen everywhere but I would rather not see it here as I think it makes eBid look bad when there are a lot of posts running the competitors down. So I vote for a complete ban
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

I know eBid let other sites advertise on here..and apart from the revenue , I do not see any difference in them doing it and us talking about it...but it could be a very interesting thread , not voted as yet....papa.

Maybe the regulars here would be capable of discussing other venues without becoming personal. But I just dont think that calm debate would be sustainable with the influx of newbies ripe with opinions and needing an outlet to air them.

In a nutshell: If it aint broke, dont fix it.
