Thumbs down sellers that no longer operate.

bryterbreen . 1189684948-19135-0. Has not replied since 2008 but items are still on sale (show till sold) very disappointing . How many more items are floating round the site with no contact. In my opinion all sites(sellers) not operated for 6 months should be put on hold and all items removed from sale.

There are lots of threads on this subject with lots of suggestions but so far nothing has been done.

There are lots of threads... and some of them are about the recent plunge in auction numbers because so many dead listings were removed this year. While I still feel that not *enough* has been done, it's wrong to say nothing.

I asked a question of a seller, three nudges, and still no reply, another example of deadwood that is pulling this site down.

I had the same - it's been a week and a half, and no reply. Maybe a suggestion would be in order to have a place on the about me where someone could put themselves in vacation status......or maybe even just write it out so that if they aren't going to be around for awhile, people know and can spend their browsing/buying time elsewhere.

Having said that, I know emergencies and family crises come up sometimes, and Ebid may not be in the forefront of someone's mind for several weeks. So, I just go with the flow. Life is too short to get too stressed about things.
    Ta-Ta for now!

You only have to take a cursory look through the categories front pages to get an idea of how many dead sellers there are. It is almost always 'Run til sold' listings that are the problem. Quite a lot of duplicate listings slip through when bulk listed as well.
This is a problem that I can see with the ninja lister. If we get an influx of so called 'big sellers' importing listings from eBay, they will expect a similar level of sales. What happens when the sales don't live up to expectations. If they are on RTN they just get forgotten about and clog up the system again. It doesn't look good for the site having loads of dead listings.
If we had a time limit on RTN listings, or perhaps if a seller hadn't logged on for 3 months then the listings were closed, this problem wouldn't be so bad.

I actually meant nothing has been done to stop it recurring
eg. A time limit on run till solds unless the seller logs in.

Ah right. Agreed, there aren't any precautions in place that I can see, it still relies on problem sellers being spotted.

Perhaps a new rule 'All run till sold listings must have a H2S badge'
