Default Can I blackball a Bidder To Cancel the Bid?

I recently had an enquiry on one of my pens. The buyer was left handed and was asking if I had any suitable pens. I also am left handed and told him about a pen that worked for me. He then asked if it was not suitable would I give him a full refund. In this instance I said I would but not return postage.

He placed a bid on one of my higher priced pens plus he purchased a buy it now pen. i sent the buy it now pen off to him and he emailed me this morning saying it was very nice but he found the nib scratchy ( I found this pen a lovely smooth writer). could he exhange it for another (a third pen)?

As the pen he has already received doesnt suit him I am now doubtful as to wether the higher priced pen will suit him either. Altho we are both left handed we must have different writing styles. I emailed him to that effect stating that each time i get a return i loose out on the postal charges and fees and that i couldnt keep doing that. (I initally thought it would only be one pen returned if it was not suitable). I also said that i can cancel his bid on the higher priced pen.

the auction goes off around 7pm today. I havnt heard back from him. My question is I dont want to sell him another pen only to have it returned as not suitable again. Can I blackball this buyer? would this cancel his bid and get my fees back, its quite a high priced pen?

Yes of course you can blackball the bidder and that would cancel his bid on your higher priced pen.

I think the question is, does the bidder WANT his bid cancelled? I hope he understands you would be charged a FVF if the listing ends with his bid in place. You are doing him a favor by blackballing him now if the case is he doesn't want the pen after trying the less expensive one. I hope he understands you can't just send him pens on approval and eat postage for them, as well as pay selling fees too.

I would message him immediately and include in the explanation that you can easily UNblackball him too.

If by some chance he doesn't see your message before the listing ends, my opinion is, assuming he doesn't want the pen--maybe he does--a chivalrous bidder would at least pay you your final value fee.

Thank youi for that. I have emailed him again stating that if i dont here from him prior to the auction ending that i will have to cancel his bid. I explained again about the fees and postal charges i loose.

I'm not having a good day today. I have another bid placed on an auction from a different bidder and since the bid was placed his name is now crossed through.
    do i blackball him too?

    Hi,
Just a suggestion next time you have someone buy something with the buy now option & place a bid on another item i would suggest to them to wait on shipping the first item until the auction closes to see if they win & do combined shipping to save them money on shipping & save you money too if they return both.

If it is a new buyer, he is probably being verified, so don't panic just yet

Please remember I am not the Oracle at Delphi. I think if a bidder's name is crossed through, you don't need to bother to blackball them. As Meebo said, maybe he's only in the process of being registered, and when he is fully registered, his bid will be valid. If he's been crossed through because of misbehavior, the bid will automatically be cancelled so there's no need to blackball him. So if I were you, I'd try to unblackball him now if possible.
