Christmas Day Holiday and Boxing Day Holiday are the public bank holidays given for the events. They are not necessarily the same time as the day itself. Since Christmas was on a Friday this year, we got the Monday as a bank holiday. This will be the same sort of thing.

You forgot to say they are the Bank Holidays for England and Wales not for Scotland.
