    As long as it's thoroughly cooked, it doesn't matter. You just need to kill any bacteria that started breeding when the thaw set in. Turning into stew or curry or something at this stage might be useful, but it's not essential.

    lol..and the rest Cornish..the 3 little beggars have done nothing but purr since they had their fill of fish..then chicken ..now they are spread out looking so content..cat got the cream..i swear they are laughing at me

    You could always cook all the stuff and then send it out to the rest of us. It's cold enough outside at the moment to keep it fresh

    Seriously though, I'm really sorry to hear of your mishap. It happened to me a number of years ago when one of the kids didn't close the freezer properly and it's a terrible waste.

    It's a sickening discovery, isn't it.

    Hesitating to be a goodie two shoes but at least you're lucky or wise to have a chest freezer. We got a new upright a couple years ago because I think they're easier to find things in, and I've already left it slightly open at least once, and everything inside thawed. An upright probably is more vulnerable to faster thawing.
