Thread: Ebid enquiries problem - solved?

I can understand were the original poster is coming from, I'm sure people do walk away when they realise they have to sign up for a part which may or may not be the one they want.
I've bought a few car parts online, and I have always phoned up or emailed first and got my reg checked against the part no. to make sure it is the right bit.
I've also clicked away from many sites that require a login to ask a question, and ended up going to a site where either you don't or I am already a member.

This isn't really relevant to me and what I sell, but It is for car parts. I think maybe some catagories should have different rules regarding contact info in listings. For example Tel. No. should be allowed in car parts.

    That's my opinion anyway

I agree with that, but unfortunately that is where paranoia appears to set in - not just here, but on ebay etc etc.
With telephone number supplied, immediate thoughts of doing the deal outside of the site concerned come into play, losing the site any fvfs.

Can understand it more on on ebay where obviously the fvfs are higher, but cant see much harm being done here with only 2%

I assume other do the same as me, I buy car parts with caution (check and double check), and contact various suppliers before purchase.

    I agree with that, but.
Also, without telephone number supplied, immediate thoughts of going elswhere to buy, losing the site any fvfs, and an eBid seller a sale.

    Which is worse/better?

References to Ebay? Please advise? They were listings that I transferred from Turbolister but I thought all mentions of eBay had been wiped?

    2% is more than fair!

I think it worked out to an average of 8% on Ebay - then Paypal fees on top of that!

Once you have added that to the price you have priced yourself out of the market.

Our 2% fvf is factored into our listing prices on Ebid, it's a small price to pay for such a great service.

    On the 'repair' listings:

We will quote you for this and send a seperate Paypal invoice for the balance - an Ebay listing can be created to protect this.
I don't know how many such listings you have running but if a lot then you could likely use Bulk Edit to do a replace of eBay with eBid on all your listings in one go.

Specialty items are hard to sell on line on any site. Take a big pie and start cutting pieces out to represent potential buyers. Your item is heavy, eliminate the international buyers, there goes 1/4 of pie. Your item only appeals to people who repair their own cars (or use rope, or need a christening gown), and there goes 1/2 of what's left. Another sliver goes if you don't stock a big choice of items. Another sliver if your shipping is too high. Another sliver if you don't have a return poicy. Pretty soon there are no potential buyers left.

Hard to expect an auction site to delivery buyers to you and your speciality items. Feebay can because of their volume, but no other auction site can draw in that volume or diversity. Therefore the seller has to be prepared to do some self marketing if that small group of people likely to buy the items are to find them. ie hand out cards at local auto shows, send past customers the new email address, etc.

We use to sell plenty on Ebay, often overseas, using exactly the same T&C's with higher prices!

We do not sell there out of principle. We decided enough was enough after the last fee revision.
