    Default Inexcusable!!

I'm stunned that this situation could be allowed to happen for over a year! This is absolutely inexcusable!
Netbanx needs to have some kind of harsh repercussions from this and I hate to say it because, though I'm a newbie I've come to really like Ebid, there's no excuse for them allowing this to go on for so long.
I have to say I'm very disappointed.

Default Don't know why I am spending so much time and effort on this

I am still not able to validate my credit card on ebid. I do not understand this at all. I worked in the financial industry for over 20 years and this process is soooooo simple I can not understand how a processor can be experiencing so much difficulty doing this. I was asked to add my info to this thread but there is not much info the error is giving me. I have tried 2 different credit cards. I really have better things to do, like generate sales rather than spending so much time just to get approved to sell via a simple credit card check. I was hoping for a good alternative to eBay but I guess that will never happen. I am also going to try onlineauction.com, at first ebid seemed a better option but if they can't handle something this simple I have very real concerns.
My support ticket is : #XBJ-55781-913 but I am not getting any real answers from support. This is the error message I get:
eBid Online Card Validation Form Card Authorisation has Failed.

    See below for more details.

Your card transaction has been unsuccessful

Sorry, but your card has been deemed invalid for some reason.

If you wish to try again, please click below:
    Return to the Payment Page

No error codes or real information at all. Now I am being told to use paypal. Are you kidding me. I would quickly find a reputable processor and fire these guys ASAP.

I am still hoping for a resolution and an alternative to eBay.

    This is my original post:
I have tried several cards to validate myself to become a seller but this system will not validate any of them. I read the forums and saw that others have had this issue but there does not seem to be an answer that I found. So, I write to ebid support and they tell me to call my card provider. I have had these cards and have used them all over the world since 1989. This has to be a joke, for customer service to tell me to check with my provider, this is the worse excuse for support I have heard of in some time. The 'we are perfect - it must be you'. I guess ebid feels they are too big to help future customers. I guess they do not need more users. I see why ebay is still the winner in the auction space, so I'll list my items there and pay their expensive rates. I was hoping for an alternative.

I've seen this problem loads on ebay and paypal, when the wife started introducing her family, as for some reason just about every card they used was the same and when they contacted their bank they found, there was a problem with the cards they were using. They came out with the same response of I have used it everywhere, then came back all red faced when they spoke to their bank.

I would speak to the bank, and ask them if there was any reason the cards could be rejected by Netbanks, while ebid are trying to look at the problem from their end.

I also noticed that you say you have been using the cards since 1989, which as cards have a three year life cycle, you may be a little too close to the expiry date, which should be around 2009 with that cycle, and Netbanks may have the settings set to reject cards when the expiry date is too close. So it will work for instant payments but be rejected for any long term verification

I am puzzled why you are so opposed to using paypal, at least for the moment, while the problem is being sorted? it just seems a little less drastic than going back to the extortion, strong arm tactics and the high charges.
You may find that you have to offer paypal over here in any case, not because ebid will force it, as ebay do, but because ebay have brainwashed buyers into thinking it is the only safe method of payment.

I would possibly do some research before you make use of the other auction you mentioned, as according to revues I have been reading, it is a lot like ebay and great if you are happy to shill bid all your items, which tends to keep buyers away, as it is starting to do on ebay.

    Good luck with it though

    Hi,

I can understand RYKS's concern with PayPal. I left eBay when they started forcing us to use their PayPal product when I had never had an issue accepting personal checks from my customers, some as much as $600.

I do like the option of using PayPal, but since last summer's new scheme to squeeze more money out of us, I do not want to give any money to eBay/PayPal or have them make money off me if I can help it.

I do not like that we Americans have been forced to use PayPal here on eBid because their bank has an issue with American credit cards. I do not like, also, that we aren't given the opportunity to try it out for a month or so, but that we must pay the $50 for the lifetime membership because that is the only option that allows payment by something other than a credit card-PayPal.

I will continue to try to figure out this site-while it is not as flashy and fast to use as eBay, it does seem to have some very difficult aspects that I'll deal with in another thread.

    Thank you,

    Dave in Maine

I have owned these cards since 1989 they have not had expiration's dates based on 1989, but both have expiration dates of 2012. I use these cards on an almost daily basis. I am not going to be embarrassed if I check with my bank about these transactions, I know 100% these cards are fine. I am concerned with continually trying this validation and the possible effect these failed transactions might have on credit scores and the red flags that might start. I think most Americans would be very surprised if they knew how much is monitored in the financial systems today especially from overseas transactions.
My suspicion is that your processor is somehow identified in the US with offshore (US) gambling sites. In the US banks or processors who represent these sites are blocked from processing credit cards. I do not know if this is the problem but it is something your processor should be checking into.
As for the paypal issue, I would be willing to use paypal if it was offered for the base seller but it is only offered to those who are willing to shell out $50 just to try the site. I want to see for myself that my items would sell here. If so then maybe I would pay the fee. But to eliminate my choices and tell me the only way to use this service is to pay $50. Would you do it?
    Thanks, Bill

Question Lifetime membership = free t-shirt

Since many of us Americans have not been given a chance to try out eBid and have been forced to buy the lifetime membership (which uses the only payment option that is available to us) , I'm wondering how many have received the free t-shirt? I don't recall being asked my size and my help "ticket" has not been addressed.

You have to contact eBid with your size, & request your free t-shirt.
The merchandise is shipped from the UK (I think they use surfacemail) so can take some time to arrive.

As for your help ticket not being addressed, did you receive an automated response to say it had been received?
If you didn't, first check your spam/junk folder, if it's not there, then they didn't receive your question, so you need to try again.
