    £2.00

    they are all coins

    then there is

    £5
    £10
    £20
    £50

    they are all notes

and I dont know if there still is but there use to be a £100 in scotland, there is also a £1 scotland note.

just to confuse matters slightly there are the same coins and notes in Nortern Ireland (which is part of the UK) but their money is not generally acepted in main land UK... it is up to the shop keeper if they take them or not...

also when (in England) you go to bank either Scotish or northern ireland notes they should be banked seperatly to English notes. so much for a UNITED kingdom

Since it's pretty obvious where this thread is going, I'll be the first to mention Spangles, shall I? Does anyone else bemoan the loss of Cremola Foam?

of cause we have also missed 4 other coins that are legal tender, not that anyone would use them to shop with as the face value is much lower than the buying price to get them and those are

    the half sovereign =50p
    the full sovereign = £1.00
    the half guinea = 52.5P
    the full guinea =£1.05

yesterdays price for a full sov was £310

all race horses are priced in guinea's

The 'Threepenny Joey' was still about when I was small - silver and smaller than a farthing.
My grandad used to give me them when I went to visit.
Also - the 15-sided 'Threepenny bit' that I remember had a thrift plant on the reverse.
