The Paramedics, Nurses and Doctors who resusitated my mum twice when she had her heart attack.

Fireman, Tony Curry (Use to spend hours copying his style of free kicks) me grandad saved 17 men in the war and was a P.O.W. me Mum for all she's been through. My Stepdad for my wicked sense of humour.

And everyday people who give help and and advice for no other reason then because they can.

You want a female hero well Ellen MacArthur is one plucky lady, not that she was my heroine when I was young since I predate her by quite a bit. My tribute to her http://uk.ebid.net/perl/auction.cgi?...824&mo=auction

Like with actors, they are no longer call actor or actress but just call all actors. A hero is a hero, does not have to be a man or woman, can be both I image.

Maybe in Wisconson. But here in Jersey we still call males Actors and Heros and females Actresses and Heroines.

Actually we view him differently because you are geographically far removed from the man. Physically he was a good looking man ( specially compared to Nixon but not compared to me. ) but he wasn't all that smart.
Bay of Pigs was a tragedy because he failed to support it properly.
His initiatives in South East Asia ( when they frankly weren't called for ) set the stage for my visit not many years after his death.
The Cuban Missile Crisis was about as close to WW III as anyone would want to get and he didn't get Khruschev to back down without trading some very strategic positions in Europe.
But overall a superior President to what we have now.

I'm another who cites my Mum as my hero. Dedicated, selfless and loving. But when I was a kid, I didn't always appreciate that. If you'd asked me as a kid to name my hero, it would probably have been Superman.

When I was 11 my 'hero' was Wallace Wood, a superb illustrator.
    He still is....my hero.
I've got to agree with you about Wally Wood. I didn't know much about his EC work until I was in my late teens, but his Marvel and Tower art was/is, as you say, superb.
