I'll have to remember that next time I am in a murderous mood

Instead of grabbing the nearest knife from my kitchen...I'll just log in here and buy one on a 7 day auction

Not the point Sunny, this really is a serious and needs sorting, can you list a bread, carving, stanley, craft etc knife or not.
I have seen first hand the damage a knife can do and as we all know it is not nice whether its taken out of a kitchen draw or not is not the point, if ebid want to be prosecuted then fine, they need to get it sorted and ASAP, I have reported a few this morning, and shall consider my future here if nothing is done about the ones I have reported.

would any of us be happy if someone we loved was killed, maimed by a knife sold on ebid or anywhere infact.
No i'm dam sure we wouldn't
Not a dig at you Sunny

Actually, an ordinary pencil can be just as lethal as any knife. Of course I never tried to slice bread with one.

After all, the pen is mightier than the sword! But while I share the abhorrence of knife crime, I think the idea of banning the sale of household knives online is flawed. The knife is not the problem. The user of the knife is if that knife is used as a weapon. If selling knives online is banned, where does that line of reasoning stop? As you say, Dennis, a pencil can be a lethal weapon, as can a knitting needle or a cricket bat.

The law is frequently an ass, but that doesn't mean eBid would be well-advised to ignore it. They brought in the blanket ban as being the most manageable way of staying the right side of the law. They don't appear to be achieving that. Surely that's a reasonable cause for concern? What one thinks of the law itself is neither here nor there.

I agree with all the comments made in the above posts.

A newspaper can be a lethal weapon in the wrong hands, the Millwall brick being an example

Will not put a link up on how to make one, don't want to give anyone any ideas, but it is lethal believe me I know.

BUT THIS IS NOT THE POINT, ARE KNIFES BANNED OR NOT...
And as Kimbo said ebid need to sort it and stick to the rule

Topical story I've just seen on Sky via Twitter http://bit.ly/B4MF6 - there's a call for all online knife sales to be banned.

I'm not quite sure if there is a way of stopping all violent crime by simply banning anything that could be used as a weapon even though it be necessary tool. Speaking from experience in both the military and law enforcement I think it's a useless battle.

Having only been with eBid a short time I'm somewhat surprised by some of the issues I've seen discussed in these forums. But I'm more concerned that the site appears to be having some issues resulting from this switching over of servers.

Frankly, I'm beginning to wonder if my fifty bucks was money reasonably spent or just frittered away. So far the site won't even let me list my first auction because of some technical problems. While many have sung the praises of the site, I've yet to see anything worth bragging about. So I'm considering my future here at eBid as well. I might have blown a $50 bill on here, but time is money also and one has to consider if it's worth investing more of it if the site can't get it together.

The way I understood it Huddy, if you see an illegal item you are supposed to report it. I think the boys have been putting in overtime as of late getting the new servers sorted out. Sure they could hire more people but then we'll all pay the price in more listings fees.

Edit: Sorry I did not see that you said you have reported them. Must be close to nappy time for me.
