Thread: "60-minute auctions" - what am I missing?

  1. #1

Default "60-minute auctions" - what am I missing?

I just noticed that on the drop-down for the 60-minute auctions some of the bookable slots appear to have a special rate.

I chose a 10p slot and tried to create an auction ... but it will only let me list at a 'Buy Now' price. Is that according to design?

The price you pay to start 60 Min and Happy Hour auctions depends on the time you book it. The earlier you start the auction the cheaper the feature fee will be.

Thanks for the response but it doesn't answer the question

Happy hour auctions are £10 no reserve auctions.

60 Minute Auctios are £1 no reserve auctions.

Any prices you set will be overwritted when you start the auction.

    Hope this helps.

Well, kinda, but after I hit 'preview' I'm presented with a page that asks me to check before confirming the advert placement and when I see

    "Starting Bid N/A
    Bid Increment N/A
    Reserve Price N/A
    BuyNow Price £6.07 "

... I don't want to hit 'submit' because that's not (from what you say) the contract I'm signing up for.

And hitting 'Edit' doesn't allow me to modify the start price / reserve; which would make sense if those fields contained "1.00" - but they don't, they contain "0.00".

    You see my point?

(I'm not trying to be awkward, I'm trying to help).

Have you left a tick in the Fixed Price, or selected the Run Til Sold option?

Ah, I see what you're saying - but the 'preview' should display the values that the listing will actually have; Gazza has confirmed that whatever is placed in here will be overwritten by the 60-minute auction values. The 'over-writing' should simply happen a little earlier in the process.

I assume that this auction type does not allow a 'Buy Now' price anyway... but I don't like to assume things.

The point really is that the way this type of listing is currently handled will confuse newbies (such as myself) and almost certainly discourage people from placing adverts of this type - so I would suggest that addressing this should go on the (no doubt already huge) 'eBid to-do list.'
