I'm not quite sure what y'all are talking about. I have to file quarterly sales/use tax returns with the state department of revenue, but only file one income tax return with the federal government a year. Are you saying that the UK wants businesses to file quarterly income tax returns? Sounds like it should increase business for accountants and tax preparation people.

Yep, in the UK as a self employed person we only have to do one income tax return for the previous year, that is bad enough and I always groan when the time comes ! Now they want us to do four a year, obviously it will generate a lot more money not only for accountants but for the government in fines when individuals and small businesses can't keep up with it all !

I suspect it is also designed to make sure that people pay tax earlier - rather than waiting until the final return is due.

I've just visited and found it says I've already signed it. But I haven't. Indeed I've not even told the site who I am, and cookies are deleted when I close my browser. Something fishy going on.
